Focused on x3r files and tool for modders. In total [990 files] [919 Published] [71 unpublished] in 90 categories

Changes (That I can remember):
  • Uploaded more x3 reunion mods.
  • Added something for the modders, you can now find a link to your mod on the download details page.
[/quote]

Modders
If your mod is on the website you can easily get a download link to your mod by going to the download detail page (for example) and go down to the bottom of the page and you should see a text area with something like this:

Code: Select all

{XD_CODE_REPLACE}[url=http://www.x1tp.com/root/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=6&view=finish&cid=926&catid=25&lang=en][img]http://x1tp.com/root/templates/x1tp2/images/xdownload.png[/img][/url]{XD_CODE_REPLACE_END}
Copy the text between the XD_CODE_REPLACE tags and it should give you something like this for your forum topic:

@ SS_T

I'm getting an error when i try to use the modders link.

At the beginning of the example you gave is

Code: Select all

[url=http://www.x1tp.com
But at the beginning of the one at the bottom of the details page is

Code: Select all

<a href="
Which results in this

<a href="/root/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=37&view=finish&cid=560&catid=58&lang=en][ external image ][/url]

If i just change it and put the '[url=http://www.x1tp.com' in its place it displays correctly but if i click the link to test it i get an error.

Yeah unfortunately I posted that before I found a problem on another page. So I tried fixing it but ran out of time before I had to go to work.

I think I've worked out a solution now and should be working. Even better I have removed them XD_CODE_REPLACE tags aswell. In the end it seemed to be an easier solution than what I tried first time.

I think I have finally solved the problem with the link to download code. So the download buttons on the website *should* be displaying correctly and the modder's download link *should* be displaying the right bbcode. Shout at me if its not :P.

I have also done more work on the template to make it fit together better and finally done some more work to make the website load a little quicker.

EDIT: For some reason the code box only works when the site address is http://www.x1tp.com instead of http://x1tp.com.

Not that much today. In total [1023 files] [965 Published] [58 unpublished] in 91 categories

Changes (That I can remember):
  • Uploaded more x3 reunion mods.
  • Fixed facebook login, can't test registration though.
  • Added a command so that any links which are http://x1tp.com will be converted to http://www.x1tp.com. Which will help sort some of the other bugs on the website.
Other thoughts:
  • Need some way to know when a download has been updated.
  • Need to get the website to load quicker, but I think it is the limitation of the joomla cms. Its not that slow to be unusable, I just like things quick.
  • Need to start editing the individual downloads again.
  • Need to get the website a bit more known to people.

Seams the links in OP are wrong, I get a 404 from those.

The ones above on this page are ok though.

Just a quick update to show it is still here. In total [1027 files] [969 Published] [58 unpublished] in 91 categories

Changes (That I can remember):
  • Updated the xdownloads component, so I now how some ability to stop the search bots from increasing the download counters. At the moment they don't give a true indication of how popular a mod is.
  • A while back I got rid of the useless facebook registration and login, now I managed to create a very secure registration which is still easy to use.
  • Backed up database for the update (although it is backed up daily anyway)
  • Edited the Ship killed notifications script by Thisisharsh, uploaded by Tempest Traveller to include all relevant information.

Just a quick update for graphics update. In total [1027 files] [969 Published] [58 unpublished] in 91 categories

Changes (That I can remember):
  • I've just done some template tweaking and image updates, so if you encounter any problems please tell me.
    • Updated forum download button [ external image ] to include the new subtext ULD (Upload = Link to = Download) to give it a more unique name.

Updated the menu so that it uses quality images instead of text.

Removed the ships graphics to speed up and declutter the website

Moved the right column up so it is more inline with the random image bar.

Made the upload button image bigger so it is more noticable.

Hi,

just registered on your site and I really like the uploading/managing functions for scripts/mods. :)
Just a few things I noticed: In the first post you say that the maximum size for an upload is 32 MB, while on the upload page it says 2 MB. What is the correct maximum size? The Register / Login button on the main site seems to have no function. At least I can't click on it. Also, there seems to be no logout-button.

Edit: Also, the X-BTF section is called "X-Beyong the frontier".

Edit2: Found the Logout-Button at the bottom of the Download list. Good place, if you like searching. :P

Edit3: How can I edit an own created script/mod entry? I forgot some link details in the script decription and I'd like to add the additional information on the right side of the download area (Modder Resources etc.).

It was 32mb on the website, but some how it reset it self, maybe when I updated it the component. I have corrected this. I'm currently experimenting with extending the limit to 100mb.

The Resiter / login link in the menu?, if so that's strange it works for me. As for the logout button I have added a module on the right which has one.

:P don't know how I missed that.

Well this is something I need to get back to and fix, I have added a edit link at the end of title of the download. There is some bugs which I need to fix but it is still usable. See here

Question: Given the new Edit facility, would you recommend updating a single mod entry for each released version and updating the file link, or instead uploading a new mod entry for each new version as before?

Observations

Using google chrome I'm also unable to push the Register / Login button at the top of the page. Works using IE though. However on chrome as a workaround I could log in OK via the User box on the bottom right of my mod page.

A logout option is displayed in the User box which I haven't tried but assume works. Ideally when logged in, the Register/Login link at the top menu could be replaced with a Logout [<user>] link.

I found the Edit controls available when logged in and it works ok in chrome except that when pushing Save the page displays: 500 - No valid database connection. The data is updated though so this is I guess just having problems redirecting back to the mod page after the update.

Enhancement Suggestions

Would be nice when uploading a new version of mod I could template the data on an existing entry (e.g. from a dropdown listing all the mods my account has uploaded) to avoid having to redo the description boxes etc.

Addition of a 'My Mods' list somewhere for all the things the account has uploaded. The user profile page might be a good place to put that.

Yeah it would be easier updating the mod entry (and save disk space).

I think I fixed this, it seems that the logo box use to cover the link. I put it behind it now.

I will try and find a way, but the permissions on the CMS are rather clumsy for menu items.

I think this problem came when I installed a translation program, deleted that and some old components.

I will look at something for these.

Works on Chrome now, thanks :) Pushing Save did not show an error page now either.

I'll use the Smart 1.8 as a master entry and update this in future. Disregard my enhancement note about templating an upload on existing entry, will not be an issue for me when maintaining a single entry.

One small side issue I wasn't able to delete 3 of the old archive versions of Smart, edit button not working for me on them.

Some more work done today, I have put together a list of codes that the website converts. I think I have mentioned it before.

But as you can now edit the downloads from the frontend and have access to the requires icons ect. I think its better for you to know which code does what:

Click here (also in the user menu)

The requires icons block uses 3 drop down menus to select which icons you want, 2 mods and a install program. There is also a custom text box you can use for more detail called 'More Specific'.

You can see the requires block in the website on the right of this re-used picture:
http://www.x1tp.com/root/images/edit.jpg.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have put some work into configuring a better wysiwyg editor, it called JoomlaCK or JCK. You can select it if you go to edit account in the user menu.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When editing the Text Pages, More Specific, Text Files ect text boxes, you have to use bbcode or html to format the text. Also use <br /> to create a new line.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is also now possible to allow members to become moderators / editors so they can have access to edit all the downloads, this means you don't have to go through all the back end to edit what you want.

So if you want to help and edit the download entries to add more information, screenshots, detail or clean up messy downloads please first register at the website then pm me on this forum. I can then enable you to become a moderator / editor.
