Racespecific lasertowers would be cool, but that would be hard work...
oops I meant the turrets mounted on ships.

still you want images for the turrets placed on ships or for the Laserturrets?

i actually meant shipturrets ;D yes of course i do...
since LT (those you drop) are somewhat hardcoded and rarely been used by player i wouldn't bother with them.

I say to make them with a similar bodies structure (one base body and two gun bodies) to the other turrets to make easier the work needed to integrate them in game.

i have some images for you: they are from other people though (I suck at drawing)

the split one is cool (but it couldn't elevate high from a practical side of view^^). Good inspiration though. The Boron - doesn't fit imho... They should have some round,smooth gun. That one looks too aggressive.

The problem for both turret designs is the rotationbehavior of turrets.
The standardturretrotation isn't equal to a ww2 battleshipturret.

(now that's difficult to describe it by words in a language that is not your own lol)
For example if you are sitting in a battleshipturret (did you played Battlefield?) and it's at low height your turret looks like this from the side: ==O. Now the plane is directly above, both turretmodels would point directly upwards. Now the plane flies over your head from 12 o clock to 6 o clock position. The WW2 Gun would rotate around the Z-axis wich would be this one: | , the X3model would turn around the X-axis: .

Don't know if it is possible to let them rotate like a ww2gun. At least i couldn't figure how to.
So i'm limited somehow to certain designs.

you can create a capital turret dummy and a up/down turret dummy like the ones we have in game.
look at bigturretdummy5, it is a up/down turret dummy. The others are standard turrets.

The method in the tutorial is the one i choosed on both new turretmodels (flak and paranidlaser)... I mean that one: if you have an asymetrical topturret firing at a target in front of you: =/0 now firing at a target behind you: 0/=
A ww2 type rotation would look like this: 0\= because it behaves differently.
This ww2 type would have only 90° x rotation but 360° z rotation. in X3 it is 180° x 180° z

Zip is too big and SPK isn't good for use as ressource...
Apart from that you shouldn't use the current version if you use patch 2.1

Actually, I have a few problems.

I haven't tried every ship, but I have 2 Dragon XL, one split without texture (I mean, it's invisible), one Paranid fully working.

I got some readtext (split turtle for ex.)

A part of that, very nice ships, with interesting configurations!

The Dragon XL isn't actually meant for playing, it's in the tships to give a modder an example on how to use the turrets. I use the Dragon as 'weaponplatform' to mount new turrets on because of it's flat body^^

Did you had readtext on other ships? (Kingtiger, Phobos or Kronos?)
Maybe the english t-File isn't working correctly.

as far as i know the game engine can only do that with turrets, imho the only thing you can do to have turrets that don't go upside down is to have turrets without a discernible up and down.

a home-made boron turret
it looks like a slightly squeezed egg, can be mounted on a turret base or directly into the hull. I made a simple and round turret with two guns because I don't think that two-barreled turrets look good on boron ships.

for the corvette's rear... looks cool 8) ...
maybe you can cut the top edge of the box on where the engines are attached, like you did with the bottom edge.
maybe having 3 smaller engines instead of two big ones
and the two wings could be a bit more distant from the body.... :roll:

download winrar, it is very useful... opens everything.
@Killjaeden: make that a self-extracting archive.... to let people without winrar have access at the files.

That's why some turretdesigns aren't possible.

selfextracting: I could do but there are some people that want to look into the archive before they are willing extract it. There's nothing wrong with winrar, you can also use it free... maybe i'll use 7zip in the next version wich is completely free.

yep. hardcoded restrictions are the worst ones. :(
you must adapt and find a cool turret that looks different from WW2 turrets... just to make the game use it correctly. That is a severely annoying thing. :shock:

a little preview on what you could get in the next version:
Argon light defense gun (M8/M6/TM turret propably a big one for M7) and Paranid heavy defense gun (M1/M2 turret) - similar dual barreled version exists too
(the 'thing' in the middle of the phdg presents a targetsystem)
Both designed to use as top/bottom turrets

And a little update on the Mavericks rear (no textures cuz my 'workingpc' will be replaced - and i like those lighttracer renderpics [not just because they make crapy models look awesome :P])

Yeah!!!! a couple of cool turrets! :D Can't wait to see them in game... :roll: more more!

I'd like to add more details but the polycount climbs at an alarming rate :o It's a bit difficult to fit the rear to the rest of the ship :/

Can you please add turret dummyes to Argon/OTAS Griffon! It's a really great looking ship but it doesn't have animated turrets on it...

Pirat MM6 Maverick ready for action (finaly)

Bad news:
I'll wait until 2.5. to release the next version.
There are also some WIPs (completely new designs) but none of them is very advanced so you have to wait to see some preview shots ;)

Nova and Perseus Prototype - unique model. I altered the original model a bit. They won't share a model with another standardversion anymore :)
