Honestly you'd think that the Aldrans would have all evolved slightly into very pale, big-eyed sorts of people for living inside a big rock for a thousand years. :roll: They'd probably be quite un-trusting of, like, everyone too.

I'll give this a look, by the way. Thanks for it. ^^

I'm pleased that all of you are intersted in this mod... but the discussion "where the Aldriners live" doesn't belong here. :P

p.s. the big rock and all the debris were a planet before the Xenon attack imho, and the Aldriners now live into rocks, as you can see in their stations.

at first when i saw the Asteroid I thought, that HAS to be in the background..lo and behold i was wrong

I found a way to save the Aldrin's feel while mantaining operational the Autopilot... the Aldrin Big rock has been resized. :D

This sounds great going to give it a try. I have lots of lag there made me not want to go to that sector.

I have still the original "remove Aldrin Big Rock" modfile where the Big Rock becomes a standard size asteroid. (in case you wanna try)

most of the Lag comes from the biggness of the sector and the big number of stations and small asteroids... this mod surely fixes the very very annoying autopilot issues. Dunno on improving FPS. Tell me if your game runs better with it. :D

Tried out the .Spk version last night- works perfectly, and Aldrin is a much nicer place now.

Thanks again for converting the files into .Spk- it's made my life much easier! :D

Not sure I want to hijack this thread but it got me thinking, could you put orbital accelerator into one zone?

There are system requirement reason to limit the size of each zone, but would not be cool to actually fly around earth.

my change would only be visible from a new game. :(
ask a scripter, it is easy to create a set of gates and link them via script editor in a game already running. (if you know how to script of course, I don't)

No. in fact all zones (Sectors) are big as Aldrin (or more), they look small just because the gates and stations are placed in a tiny spot. all the rest of the sector is void as only vacuum can be.

yep. :D I'd like to do that too... but planets in this game are just emispheres put in the background, so you cannot fly around them.
Nor land on them. :P

the only thing that tries to be different was the Aldrin big rock... with awful results. :shock:

Planets are objects. You can target them or fly around them.

Not much to see there, though.

I meant that the planet's model is a hemisphere. If you fly around it you will see through it. And you cannot target Vanilla planets.

Oh, you can make a script do that. It will show as "Planet" in your target info.

I've never seen a planet on the gravdar.... never seen Aldrin rock either.... :?

Hey guys,

Tried the resize mod but the asteroid is still just as HUGE! I have the latest patch.
The mod manager has successfully installed the script and it is enabled.

What am i doing wrong?

hi, just wondering why not remove that thing at all?

it's not like that piece of rock has anything to do with plot or whatever.

maybe just to make that planet of whatever left of it to become the standard background thingy

Well, is anyone able to remove it or at least resize it? I dont think the old script is working with the new updates. Not sure why. Not working for me anyway. I like Aldrin, but that big rock is just screwing everything up.

So, anyone able to fix this?

Just downloaded this mini mod yesterday and for me it worked. Check if you installed it the right way.

To remove the rock at all, you could unpack it from the .cat/.dat, import it in gmax, delete it, export it in gmax, repack it as .cat/.dat

Seems complicated? Instead of importing, deletion and exporting you could use a unpacked .bod or .bob file from a existing "no complex tubes" mod which is empty too. You only would have to rename it, so that it's name fits aldrin rock's name of the file.
