I'm playing on fglrx-13.3_beta3 and so far didn't noticed any of "known bugs" (except that one in the last post - menu "screen" seems to be garbaged until you switch menu or do something else - then it will go back to normal).

One issue I'm suffering from which is not listed in known bugs is heavy unperiodic lags without any cause. I feel it's like good old "loading lag" as it seems to negate as I progress though game session (more LODs and models are cached).

Two curios points:
1. It does affect both logic and render threads - it's like 1-2 seconds full freeze and game do not "jump" after the lag (like it does during normal render lags).
2. It ssems to affect game/sector loading too - after load I hear sound of station announcement begin, but then everything freeze in black screen for 5-10 seconds more.

As it doesn't jump it doesn't affect gameplay, but really annoying.

That's Gentoo system, kernel 3.8.4. Could it be due to Video Memory overestimate (I've set it to 512+)?
I have the same lags while flying with SETA. Some of the lags are about as long as it is when entering a sector. I'm using Ubuntu 13.04 with an Nvidia card though.

I got this working fine on Gentoo, I'm using an AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6770 with catalyst 13.1, occasionally choppy in the graphics (on same machine on windows 7 it doesn't do this) Other than that working perfectly for me.

Beta is working mostly fine there on Gentoo on ATI Radeon HD6370M
glibc: 2.15-r3
kernel: 3.4.9-gentoo x86_64
ati-drivers: 13.1
xorg-server: 1.12.4

However, I do have some graphic issues

Minor problems are colors in sector and universe maps, encyclopedia, trade menu etc...:

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-iYdk ... colors.png

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-laK6 ... colors.png

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Wuy- ... colors.png

There are two more sewer glitches:

Atrifacts in main menu:

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-WPR5 ... 8/menu.png

Sometimes after warp/jump interface gets corrupted (save/load fixes that):
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-qi23 ... r_warp.png - see left panel

And the most gameplay affecting bug is that mouse wheel scrolling does not work at all.

The artifacts on the main menu must be AMD related because it displays perfectly on Nvidia.

Edit: Here's a screenshot of the main menu working perfectly with no artifacts on an Nvidia card. I'm only posting this to show it's an AMD issue.

Edit 2: I can also confirm no mouse wheel scrolling.

Excellent work on the fixes in Build 4 :) I can confirm that all the issues I reported are now fixed.

Pressing any key (Try the enter key) while one of the arrow keys is pressed results in a spastic interface. I remember that the Windows version didn't have this problem.

Nice work with the latest build by the way :)

I can confirm that one. Just to clarify things a little it happens while docked at a station and you hold down both up and down arrow keys.

Edit: Tested it in both fullscreen and windowed and it only happens in windowed mode. It behaves like it does in Windows in fullscreen.

I know it's not supported but did anyone get the "X3 Rebalance Mod" to work?

I can installed it and it does show all the new characters. I can select some and and can start a new game.
Some others crash the game back to the desktop.

When I start a game with the characters that work I can save but if I try to reload the save games I crash back to the desktop.

That only happens when I try to load the games from the main menu. When I load a previous save from within a game I am playing right now it does not crash.

For me it doesn't matter if in space or docked at a station. Also fullscreen and window mode have the same issue.

I was able to replicate it in full screen but it doesn't happen all the time. I'm playing in full screen and flying right now and it is behaving normally. It also behaved normally while docked.

Edit: I can replicate it every time now. When flying hit enter and then press up and down arrow and while both keys are pressed it will occur. It does not happen within the sub menus just the main ones like current ship, eject, ect.

Player's ship is crashing into warp gate while trying to enter it from behind. I guess its a bug - one can fly through gate's back side with no problems on Windows version.

I can confirm that.

Also 2 bugs:

Pressing ESC immediately after selecting a game start and before the quote is shown results in this: http://i.imgur.com/3jDeJh1.jpg

The setting "Run game in background" gets ignored by the game. Even if it is set to No, the game will still run while it's in the background. (Tested with i3 and kwin)

I can confirm that one. I tried it on the gate between Nathan's Voyage and the Unknown Sector. You definitely could go through from behind the gates on the Windows version.

I found a bug with exporting statistics. If you select Export Statistics it will cause your ship to self destruct.

Edit: Here's a screenshot of what is displayed when you select Export Statistics.

I can't get Terran Conflict to recognise/use my joystick hat. I've gone through a bunch of axis numbers in the input dialog and none of them are affected by it. I've also tried the "Use POV hat to look around" but it doesn't seem to work.

Linux: Issues so far

Post by AeroNotix » Sat, 20. Apr 13, 12:31

Hi,

I'm not a beginner with this game I have played through several times on Windows, however I wanted to give the Linux version a try since it's my primary operating system.

My problems include:

* Various videos are completely garbled, especially the main menu (New Game/Continue).

* The game will randomly hang/pause for quite some time (3-4s+) at seemingly random locations.

I confirm this to happen, albeit setting graphics to 'Low' fixed this for me

Omg.... I've just encountered epic bug with tractor beam...
After I fired into my ore mine with tractor beam, it pulled my ship with increasing speed into asteroid and BOOM! game over :)
Also, it was red, not green, and became orange/yellow last second before lethal collision.

Save games not working

Post by AeroNotix » Sat, 20. Apr 13, 13:37

I also get a segfault after loading in my Windows saved games into the Linux save game folder.

Code: Select all

*** Error in `<unknown>': double free or corruption (!prev): 0x0a358130 ***
/home/xeno/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/X3 Terran Conflict/testandlaunch: line 31: 3134 Segmentation fault (core dumped) ./$1
Game removed: AppID 2820 "X3: Terran Conflict", ProcID 3134
saving roaming config store to 'sharedconfig.vdf'
roaming config store 2 saved successfully
The OP suggests I can use my save-games.

Also, will the source be available at all? I understand that's a tall order but it could help.[/code]

Same about saves there, Windows version crashes trying to load Linux saves and vice versa.

So do save games work or not, on a thread on Reddit there are also reports of save games not being compatible.

OS: Arch
GPU: AMD HD4890
