Xenon L cargo issue

I capped an L earlier and was going around picking up cargo when I noticed that I had a heck of a time trying to line up properly to get it inside, using autopilot, the ship seemed to line up to a point where the crate was well below the target reticle. Is there some reason for this, or is this a camera placement error?

This was the same in X3R. The camera is quite a way above the centre of the ship. I'm not sure that it's actually an error, but it certainly takes some getting used to!
