Looking for new joystick
Now that the next DLC is about to pop out, I'm in need of a new stick. In my region the Thustmaster 160000 is looking to be best price/performance. However what I haven't seen or heard much about is it physical feel. How does the sticks deadzone feel, you know the moment from rest you push it just a millimeter somewhere. So I'm was wondering anyone here has experience of it? I like it when the joystick is on the heavier side, aka feel like steel and don't have those useless physical loose plastic zones, gaps that do nothing other than irritate. I know you can't get that with a budget but lets strive for it.
Re: Looking for new joystick
I had a one of those way back when i was starting to get into Flightsims, it actually doesn't have a deadzone apart from one you might setup yourself, it has some sort of magnetic sensor setup for position registering. It kindof blew my mind how precise and good that thing was for its price. This was so long ago though that i do hope they didn't make any negative changes in the meanwhile.

I've dual wielded a pair of 16000M's, in the past, and found them more than adequate.

Re: Looking for new joystick
Is the resistance to movement subtle without being heavy and making your hand tired holding a long period time, given you a good feel for small fine tuning?
Re: Looking for new joystick
There are reviews of all price level sticks/HOTAS/HOSAS. First that I did find: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1z4M42aw80
Of those VKB Gladiator NXT seems to get good reviews, particularly from space sim users.
I had Saitek X52 for over a decade. Now I use VKB MCG as the stick. Solid, but on the "top tier" price range.

Re: Looking for new joystick
I bought a Thustmaster T.160000M last month and I really love it, Wanted to try it out without paying too much just to see how it is and got it for around 120 euros I think and I'm really not disapointed, makes playing x4 10 times better for me.
Re: Looking for new joystick
I've run a Warthog HOTAS with VKB pedals for years. But I'm into flight sims/flight games (DCS, MFS, X-Plane ,IL-2) and a HOTAS makes more sense for them. However I do play this game and Elite Dangerous as well.

Re: Looking for new joystick
I'm not going for the full HOTAS setup, just the stick. Mostly I have had problems with the rudder function on them. So many are just sloppy and loosly and get quickly worse when the plastic gives up trough use. So thats what I'm looking for. That video is a good one but again they don't really say how it feels, just briefly.
Oh and everything is online shopping nowadays, so no shop has them on view or anything

Re: Looking for new joystick
It seems that the T.16000M is sold alone, with throttle (HOTAS), or two in a pack (HOSAS). Same stick in all.
Even in review of bundle there can be talk about the stick: https://stormbirds.blog/2019/08/13/thru ... ck-review/
Then again, in different crowd the experiences and views can be: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/33 ... er-t16000/

Re: Looking for new joystick
Hello,
i also have/had the T.16000M including the TWCS Throttle. I was playing Elite Dangerous with that set , ok, heavy use
My Impression is a bit mixed. It worked very well first, but after about 1,5 years i had to replace the Throttle, because of knobs not longer responding. I found a bargain on Ebay to replace it, which is still working. But lately the stick itself runs crazy and i'm permantly rolling
Now i'm using a combination of the 'TWCS Throttle' and my very old 'Logitech Extreme 3D Pro'.
I also have a brand new unused Virpil Constellation/VPC WarBRD Base. But for that stick/base combination i got to modify my desk. The grip itself is roughly 10cm - 15cm higher than the 'T.16000M' or the Logitech.

Re: Looking for new joystick
Virpil site shows 21cm as Constellation Alpha grip height and 11cm as the WarBRD Base height, so ~30cm? Saitek X52 was 27cm. TM says that T-16000M FCS is (length/width/height) (cm) 21.4*22.0*24.2. (VKB MCG Pro on GF Mk.III base is ~30cm.)
I actually got desk mounts (Monstertech; Virpil and VKB sell their own too) for X52. X52 throttle and stick have wide bases, which with full-size keyboard in the middle was wide and mouse was "out there". Perfect with X2 and X3 that did not need mouse for anything, but a pain for X4. With desk mounts the mouse is reachable on the table.
One can make such a mount self too, which is obviously cheaper.
[EDIT]
Ha! Captain Collins has a video about T-16000M in X4.

Has anyone used one of these yet? https://stormbirds.files.wordpress.com/ ... &h=&zoom=2
I have a T1600m and it's starting to have issues with the rudder calibration. So, I'm thinking of switching to the Gladiator NXT EVO. It doesn't have the 16 buttons like the Thrustmaster, but I only use 3 generally. Travel, boost, and stop. JW how well it works with X4.

The SCG grip has "3 Hat switches with center push (4-way)". That is "5 buttons" per hat, i.e. 15 buttons in those hats. Add the other buttons and whatever is on the base and you have way more than 16.

Oh, well, then no worries for lack of buttons! Will check it out. Thanks for reply/links.jlehtone wrote: ↑Sun, 17. Apr 22, 19:12Quick search found two users of (older) Gladiator:

[EDIT] The Gladiator NXT EVO ‘Space Combat Edition’ seems to be a new model? It looks perfect for playing X4. About ready to pull the trigger, metaphorically and literally.

Re: Looking for new joystick
The NXT EVO was released last February: https://vkbcontrollers.com/?page_id=176
Its base differs from the earlier NXT base. AFAIK, the grips did not change.
The SCG, Cosmosima, "space combat" grip has many versions, both right-handed and left-handed.
There are SCG for both Gladiator and Gunfighter bases, since the bases have different connectors or something.
NXT has also side modules and an "Omni-throttle" adapter between base and grip.

Is there a X4 profile online to download for the Gladiator?jlehtone wrote: ↑Mon, 18. Apr 22, 11:36The NXT EVO was released last February: https://vkbcontrollers.com/?page_id=176
