So I hear Putin is massaging the country to prepare for forever war with the West. In case you missed it, US is officially being accused of terrorist attack on Russian soil - do you think that's an act of war in the Kremlin minds?
Years ago we were doing some work around public unrest, and models would include "legitimacy" of hardships being endured by a population as affecting their propensity to rebel/riot etc.
Hence why in WW2, the UK suffered extreme hardships - rationing, huge amounts of destruction - no-one was physically trying to overthrow the government as it was a "legitimate" hardship due to fighting the war, a war against an opporessor.

Russia *is* the oppressor and I don't think they can realistically say it's a pleasant thing for the population. So reinforcing that there's this *waves hand mysteriously* risk to the country, to the land, to the people - from wayward foreign subversive powers, will likely make anything ongoing seem legitimate.

Just like they made out the attack on Ukraine is legitimate. Because Ninja Nazi's.

Not sure it matters what Putin/Russia says since the people don't really believe them or care.

Russian military moving into Niger after the coup by the pro Russian group. Maybe the African coalition or France should have acted?

China's increased and expanded it's supplies for Russia and is still increasing it's own military.

More aid has been given to Ukraine by EU members including Patriot systems.

US has approved emergency supplies of HAWK air defence missiles. This might be the start of Ukraine being able to buy stuff from the US vs having to wait for aid packages. Ukraine has the money. Ukraine was initially going to pay for them but then got them as aid. However allowing Ukraine to buy stuff to bypass the current aid package block is quite significant.

It looks like russia might have managed to get one Ukrainian War Channel removed from youtube by bot spamming.

It might be unpopular opinion, but Reporting from Ukraine is a trash channel that provide no reporting value at all.
It's there right in your face, the trash YT generic quality - you still have same 4 pictures of Zaluzny in the thumbnail, months after he was dismissed, they couldn't even bother to change this.

In last few years YT has been spammed with such generic channels in every single field, from reporting, gaming, science to cooking.

Seem like YT argument is the content duplication, where all the videos are the same, but in different language (I've seen many channels like that).
We already have different subtitles for different languages, but perhaps YT is preparing also the different sound/speaker feature - this would make such channels redundant.

As always it's very bad that YT is very selective in it's ToS enforcement, but i wouldn't mind if they would actually apply this for all those generic channels for once.

Oh great, all it takes is one click on Reporting from Ukraine to make its evil twin, WeebUnion to popup in YouTube recommended :(

Edit:
back to something more positive and interesting.

That has to hurt, Russia is in no position to mass-produce those.

And whether anyone learns something from it, depends on where in the world they live.

Back in January, some serbs fighting for Kremlin complained of being treated like cattle and being sent into attack barely armed (1).
But waay before that there were plenty of complaints from third world countries that people promised work like cook or logistics were instead being put into the front line. (2 and 3)

Point being - there are truckload of people who either consider articles I linked below to be propaganda or they live in the part of the world where media filters such news for various reasons. And then when arriving into Russia, find out that life under Putin is not all it is cracked up to be.

Looks like Ukraine aid has passed the US House vote.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/aid-ukraine- ... 57344.html

The significance of the tu-22m3 being blown up was that it was well behind enemy lines (~300 km).

Looks like Ukraine has sunk (???) / more likely damaged Russia's only salvaging ship while it was docked. The Kommuna was launched in 1915. The ship also has a rescue sub that the ship uses.

Ukraine aid still might be delayed. Hopefully the process will be completed within a week. US aid mostly comes in the form of weapons as compared to other countries aid.

She is not the only salvaging ship (despite claims online) that Russia has, it is the likely only one in that particular area of operations. Not really worth spending a neptune missile on a salvage ship imho.

Shame (from historic perspective) if she burns down - lets hope she only stays disabled during the war. I always have respect for machines that solder on waaay past the expectations from its makers. That ship saw a lot of history. But war is war...

Yeah, seems like a strong driving force, and how Russia has been operating for the last 100 years it seems. There's always a global enemy

I want it to be Ukraine but it happened so far away, maybe it was a malfunction? Russia is not exactly known for taking good care of its equipment. This war has been going on for years, it wouldn't be surprising if Russian planes would just start falling from the sky for lack of proper maintenance.

@ mr.WHO: It might be an idea to always say what the link will show and what you think about it. People tend to be wary about clicking unexplained links, especially here.
