Max von Sydow has died aged 90:

For some reason the first thing that comes to mind when I think of him is his performance as Ming the Merciless in the 1980s Flash Gordon movie. I don't know if he'd *want* to be particularly remembered for that, but it was certainly a memorable performance!

Albert Uderzo has died. Made it to 92 years. I was recently thinking about reading the Astérix series again.

Yeah, saw that. - He had pretty bad heart failure and, as his family said, his 'heart couldn't take it.' - He came towards the end of the era of televised comedy double acts and, although not my favourite pairing, they certainly raised a few laughs.

RIP

Alexander George Thynne, Lord Bath, the 7th Marquess of Bath better known as the owner of Longleat house and wildlife park has died from the Coronavirus aged 87.

I always liked the guy he was maybe an aristocrat with a title but he wasn't like any of the other snobs out there with his art and flamboyant way he dressed he was a hippy in every way. I suspect it would have been a pretty large funeral but due to the times we are living in there is only a max of 10 people allowed at a funeral.

The greatest driver to never win an F1 world championship--and on one occasion he failed to win because he'd insisted that the disqualification handed down for his rival Mike Hawthorn be removed. Fantastic driver, fantastic sportsman, he will be missed.

And the inventor of the game of life (you'll know if you're old enough) has died.

RIP John Conway

I thought xkcd's Conway tribute was rather touching:

Not from corvid19, but another legend Joe Brown has died after a long illness.

Anyone here who climbs will surely know the name. Legend is not too strong a word I think.

I was never a fan but I think one cannot deny their influence.
