I wonder if he has not been sick a while, I know they said heart failure but the statement from the family was 'he died peacefully' which sounds allot more like they knew it was coming, rather than a sudden heart attack, possible he had Aids, he had pneumonia a while back which is a common problem that crops up with Aids.

95 is really rather good.

I remember Liz Smith from 'I didn't know you cared' and the 'Royle family'. An excellent actress with good timing.

She did a lot of drugs when she had to face the worldwide fame she encountered after Star Wars. That always has a physical cost.

I bought her latest book a few weeks back, have yet to read it.
Her 'Postcards from the Edge' is the one I read first, in the nineties, a semi-autobiographical story that had quite an impact on me, more than I thought it would.

Clever lady. Caused no end of problems for computational astronomers though, how do you model something that doesn't reveal itself?

I dealt with it by simply declining to model rotating Galaxies.

First Leonard Nimoy gone in 2016 and now this.

Worst Christmas present ever.

All in all 2016 has been a lousy year.

Indeed 2016 just does not want to end. For a leap year, it sure didn't skip over many great figures. :-(

Surprised Carry Fisher was "only" 60 given the near 40 year anniversary of A New Hope's release. Even though I'm not one of the major fans of the princess character, I recognise its status within the greatest of franchises.

MFG

Well she was in her 20s when she did star wars, so she really wasn't that old at the time.

I always thought she did a pretty good job doing the role, but anyway, it's a sad time and a very sad year.
