Who claims classical picking is dead? Watch Matteo Mancuso ;-)

They are no longer baby's (Su-metal is 25 now), but babymetal's latest album "the other one" rocks, it's not as heavy as their past albums, it still has a couple of heavy tracks on it but with a touch of pop and electro in it, and for your enjoyment here are a couple of tracks from it, but I recommend checking out the full alum.

Babymetal - Metal Kingdom

Babymetal - Light and Darkness

Had to go for live tracks as it's the best way to really enjoy them, they do know how to put on a show.

I stumbled onto a YouTube music site today, as far as I can tell it is all Japanese artists and I have never heard of 90 plus percentage of them, but a few I have the first 3 I have seen their music before, Shota Shimizu never heard of him before, but I enjoyed his song. The main thing about the site is all the artists get 1 shot and nu dubbing, so they have to be able to play those instruments and sing those songs, so no pressure. I have only linked a few videos, but it's worth having a look at others if you are so inclined, I highly recommend it.

BABYMETAL - Monochrome
YOASOBI - Gunjo
ATARASHII GAKKO! – OTONABLUE
Shota Shimizu – Koi Uta

That ATARASHII GAKKO! come over as a crazy bunch, but they do seem to be enjoying themselves, so just for fun here's another one of their videos.

ATARASHII GAKKO! - A wave that cuts through youth

And finally some Japanese school kids performing a YOASOBI cover, they are probably from one of those Japanese after school clubs, but it's pretty good I think it is the same song as above from YOASOBI but, the name is different.

YOASOBI cover (not sure on the name, I think it is ultramarine blue, but it may be Gunjo (military camp))

I'll say this much, we never had anything like that at my school.

Late 60s, early 70s. I wonder if others here are into this kind of music.

Sure =) While being a child of the 80s I do appreciate all kinds of music and we listened a lot to Judas Priest and Black Sabbath* back in the days. As well as to Motörhead (Keep Us On The Road). Their Ace of spades is nice, too.

*Paranoid is just awesome :)

edit Lucifer's Friend isn't a band I was actively aware of - but one sure can hear their influence on others.

Lucifer's Friend:
Judas Priest:
Black Sabbath:
The Kinks - All Day And All Of The Night
The Who - My Generation

That move away from the amplified blues of bands like Cream and Led Zeppelin.

The Detroit sound of The Stooges - I Wanna Be Your Dog

Out there, somewhere, Hawkwind - Master of the Universe
Uriah Heep - July Morning, a big influence on bands like Iron Maiden.
Queen - Seven Seas Of Rhye
The Rattles - The Witch
TOAD - Stay
Yes, I know is swing time music, but it is as heavy as it comes, Vanilla Fudge - Shotgun
Montrose - Space Station #5

Another most excellent album, the only problem is it is only 20 minutes long, so here's the whole album.

The Big Push - Can Do Will Do

The other problem is that the band split up last year, part of the reason is that the singer Ren has mental health issues, but he hasn't gone away he actually released a song which is pretty well, listen to it, but it is all about his issues, be warned it is pretty disturbing.

Ren - Hi Ren

I do wish the guy all the best and I hope we hear a lot more from him well into the future, he is a very talented guy.

I hadn't listened to Lucky Chops in some time when I got this in my recommended today:

Lucky Chops - Funkytown

Made me think of Postmodern Jukebox as I hadn't listened to them in some time either, so here you go:

Postmodern Jukebox - Running Up That Hill
Postmodern Jukebox - I Was Made For Lovin' You

And just for fun, as they need and deserve some extra views:

University of Surrey Big Band - Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby?
