Just for laughs:
Mosquito...
A short movie that advertises a "new" series with obvious similarities with a certain show
Link: http://www.mosquitoverse.com/
After you see the trailer don't forget to check their webcomic, it has its moments.
Speaking of webcomics, xkcd made a recent reference to Firefly
http://xkcd.com/439/
The mouse over is a little funny.
Also Serenity tales has some new fan made comics about the Verse
http://www.webcomicsnation.com/serenitytales/
For a finishing touch...
If someone wonders why i haven't reported about this years CSTS screenings, while they where very successful from what i have seen, this is the main reason:
Took the dive and got the series. Have to say the start is confusing as hell. No introduction, just dumped into an attack scene, which ends for one side and then Bump! A jump forward in time to a salvage. I kept chekcing the disc figuring I put the wrong one in. Have moved on into the series but they have yet to give any kind of intro as to the situation. Apart from that it is enjoyable, I like the characters and it is nice to see star wars/trek is not the only universe out there. Great mix of oriental/western, very BladeRunner.
I personally watched Serenity first before I found and watched Fire Fly watching it in that order was confusing as hell but still I loved it.

A minor Joss update:
Some of you might have Learned about Dr. Horrible's sing along blog, some of you might not.
Its an internet only mini show starring Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day and Neil Patrick Harris, directed and written by Joss Whedon.
It is so far considered an internet hit:

Hope you like it.

question to Firefly fans.
I am planning on going to DragonCon in August,
and so far, Jewel Staite is listed as one of the guests. So is Adam Baldwin.
(I think Jewel is going to be with Stargate folks, and Adam with.... "Chuck" folks perhaps)
Any suggestions for something interested to say or ask them?

gorram tragedy serenity didn't make a good box office haul- best scifi film in a long long time, since blade runner, imo. i wonder how well the collector's edition dvds are doing. the firefly 'verse lends itself to a great deal more exploration, but comics and homemade fan projects just don't do it for me.

will think of something then
what I dont understand is why Joss didnt go with Sci-Fi. The Sci-fi channel re-ran Firefly a few times after Serenity, and I think showed Serenity too later on. If he really wanted they might have picked it up... it seems to me. But who knows.

scifi is too cheap to make firefly. didn't they drop bsg b/c it cost too much? scifi seems to air crappy, low budget made-for movies and crappy reality-type supernatural shows. and of course better scifi shows from other networks. scifi would never cough up the coin needed to reignite firefly. i just wish universal and scifi could work together and fund a serenity sequel for scifi and dvd.

Firefly wasnt exactly high budget show thoughpepperg wrote:scifi is too cheap to make firefly. didn't they drop bsg b/c it cost too much? scifi seems to air crappy, low budget made-for movies and crappy reality-type supernatural shows. and of course better scifi shows from other networks. scifi would never cough up the coin needed to reignite firefly. i just wish universal and scifi could work together and fund a serenity sequel for scifi and dvd.
It's possible sci-fi may have considered not a great investment, given their current line ups though, I dont quite see why.
BSG wasnt dropped, its future was uncertain so writers/director(s) decided to finish the show themselves, before they are told to. The last season is not the end though, there's new (mini?) series curently being discussed.

firefly was actually a high budget show. i think the 90min pilot cost 12mil. can't see scifi ponying up that amount of cash.

Not sure about Stargate (I assume Atlantis, since SG-1 was cancelled), but Eureka would be cheaper purely because its seasons are only 13 or so episodes, as I recall.fiksal wrote:hm, ok, so shows like Eureka and Stargate cost less? Or are those high budget too?pepperg wrote:firefly was actually a high budget show. i think the 90min pilot cost 12mil. can't see scifi ponying up that amount of cash.
