Why does X3 use tga format anyways? Isn't jpeg good enough or is egosoft trying to motivate people to buy adobe products?
Our mighty sovereign may she always go before us sailing brightly in the sea of black.
Re: formats
Because it's the native output of DirectX or something, I expect. They're true captures which you can encode if you want, later. Outputting as JPG drastically reduces image quality.Harlock776 wrote:Why does X3 use tga format anyways? Isn't jpeg good enough or is egosoft trying to motivate people to buy adobe products?
Re: formats
What does TGA have to do with Adobe products? TGA (aka Targa) format was devised by Truevision, not Adobe, and it's one of the most widely-used bitmap image formats out there. (And it doesn't use lossy compression like JPEG does).Harlock776 wrote:Why does X3 use tga format anyways? Isn't jpeg good enough or is egosoft trying to motivate people to buy adobe products?

Presumably a tenuous link between 'image formats' and 'using photoshop to look at images'. If not, then I don't knowpjknibbs wrote:What does TGA have to do with Adobe products? And yes, Irfanviewer will pretty much convert anything to anything. Very good.
Cheers,
Rob.
Irfan viewer will open and convert any file but I like to stick with Photo Filtre.
