Re: FREE UK 0845 56K dialup
being stuck on 56k due to locale, this looked like great news.Firebird wrote:Yep FREE, no catches no CD's to mess up you PC settings.

:
BUT..
No connection or time charges
means no money
Just your phone calls at local UK 0845 rates 1p/minute at weekends
means money and is a contradiction
if theres a charge for the phone call then its not free, just a standard ISP deal for pay as you go.
Nope 0845 are local rate calls and at weekend are 1p per minute, O think its 4p per minute weekdays and 2p minute ater 7pm or similar, it depends on your telco provider.P0inter88 wrote:arnt 0845 numbers like £1 a minute? or there abouts...
(awaits pr00f its free)
I think your thinking of 0870 number...
And from my perspective its a FREE service to you, the call charges are between your telco provider and you. I dont chareg anything for the service.
And yes its a standard 'pay as you go' style deal. but not from a huge multinational conglomerate, who provide CD's to load goodness knows what on your PC to access it.
Still a god deal.

Re: FREE UK 0845 56K dialup
Not really - As far as I'm concerned its a FREE service for anyone, what you pay for your calls is between you and your telco provider...AJ Rimmer Bsc.Ssc. wrote:being stuck on 56k due to locale, this looked like great news.Firebird wrote:Yep FREE, no catches no CD's to mess up you PC settings.

But I am organising an un-metered 56K dialup for a fixed monthly price.... should be better than BT's deal/time limits.
Dont be such a sceptic

no ad spyware?....now THATS deal clincher alone.Firebird wrote: But I am organising an un-metered 56K dialup for a fixed monthly price.... should be better than BT's deal/time limits.

keep up the posts...will keep watching for one off annual or monthly deal.
no spyware?....LOVE IT...5 thumbs
Unfortunately at the moment it's cheaper for me to go with freeserve, since I can get a month for £15 or so, and I am connected far more than £45 a quarter. Back when I was using an 0845 dialup (the ISP I worked for) I was getting quarterly bills of £200+.
Plus, if you can find out the number, there's no need to install anything, thus I just have a text file with my freeserve info, and create my own dial-up connection.
If it weren't for the per minute charge I would love to get away from a big company. I guess I'm about to do something with satellite broadband though...

Prudent or not, once the scythe comes out, I'm probably gonna haul ass!
I know all about these things....... I run my own visp!
all what it is, is that you dial up a 0845 number, connect to the internet, it costs you local call rate - 5p connection, +1p a min, person running the visp gets commision! usually 1/2p per min wich is cool as you usually pay 20 quid a month for a server, and 1.50 a month for every gb of bandwidth, and on dial up you would get something like 100 quid through commision before you would get to pay for a full gb!
to tired to make this neat, hope you get the idea!
