Competing CPUs (AMD/Intel)
I have noticed some interesting discussions and some wild claims during them. I prompted my curiosity. Who uses what and which is the best (I know the answer to that last part).
Post your chip and speed for comparisson.
You could also include your core family and if you are overclocking, include your standard speed, your current speed, your thermal increase and cooling modifications.
I didn't include sever/workstation class chips in the survey but feel free to post them if you are running one.

Ok I voted AMD athlon as I have a xp2200+ on my base machine however this rig only has an ATI 9550 graffics card in it, So I use my laptop to play X3 know which has a Pentium 4 1.86mhz with a Nvidia 6800 go 256 ram which runs the game much better
so I have
Amd xp2200+ and a pentium 4 1.86ghz (laptop)
jae

Oh please, do not get me wron. I totally agree in the superiotity of AMD's processors over Intel.
I run a Systems Integration/OEM company in Fort Worth, TX and we have completly dropped Intel CPUs from our main line. We will build them by request only and only after encouraging our customers to consider the AMD alternatives.
What is not to like? AMD chips out perform Intel at every turn, have much lower thermal consupmtion and thus generate much less heat, can overclock like a scalded cat and cost the same or less in most cases.
Not only that... First to 64. First to Dual Core. First one to figure out that better performance doesn't mean shoving more bus speed behind a struggling chip.
I am all about AMD.

No O/C with standard cooling and it runs cool.

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
1.8 Ghz but it's 2 Ghz and I didn't overclock, if I do, it's will crash to desktop if I play games or do something.
Eww, I have lot of Fan in my case to cooling off, Of coure my ATI 9800 Pro 254's fan is dead but it's working fine without little fan, play X-3 and no crash to desktop,
