Really good script mate!
Couple of points I found worth mentioning:
I find it really a chore having to look for bounties in high traffic areas, stareing at the sec map hurts after a while. You would still have to search several sectors if the target was red to you.
This is more of a question:
When I bag a bounty the Trade Station goes red red red. Is this permenant? Will I never be able to land there again?
One last comment. If you had an Assasin's Guild you could make the Penniless Assasin start point a really good option. Just have kill missions, maybe spawn an escort.
Thanks again for all of your hard work, I can just about script the location of my ship to my log so all the above is said with the upmost respect.

well, the whole point of having to search is to make it so you have to actaully work for ur money rather than just picking off whos red, u can usually scan down the list to at the serial codes and spot the ship u need, thats what i usually do
The trading station prolly goes red for 2 reasons, it might be the homebase of the ship and therefore dont like you attack on one of there ship, i might remove the homebase assiging.
Its also coz you might lose recognistion when killing the bounty, as there not pirates, but part of that race, so by taking out other pirates in thier sectors you can get it back again
i am actaully making various guild scripts, im changing my mercenaries script into a sorta of Mercenarys guild, and also planning on the Smugglers guild as well,
so i could always add others too

Take you point mate, mabey I'm doing something wrong but the ID no longer shows up on the second version of the script. The non colourful, one at a time bounty messages just have a name e.g. Susu Han and the ship e.g. Paranid Pericles Raider. It has no ID e.g. AM3DX-89.
Am I doing something wrong? Can I find the ID of the ship somewhere?
I think the turning red must be because the ship is tied to the Trading Station. The other same race facts and ships are still blue. Will it wear off?
Once again mate I don't want to sound like an ungreatfull git, you have done a great job with this, when I do find the little bleeders it's a real treat!

the id thing might be my fault, it should display when it shows all the details, but it might be the formatting i've used in the t file which makes it not show up, so i should be able to fix that np
it should wear off, you could try comm them and appologise, or just raise ur recognisition up again
i will look into thel ink between the boutny ship and trading station and c if i can improve this

Quick suggestion - is there a way to give NPCs with bounties a special response to the "Surrender!" option in the communications menu? For instance, you could tell them to surrender and they would immediately attack you on the spot, forcing you to defend yourself and thus letting you kill them without losing any standing with the race.
An idea:
NPC bounty hunters -
-Possibly take missions hunting the harder bounties with a group of NPCs
-If you are going after a higher lvl bounty and an NPC is also, he will attack because he wants the money
-If a race dislikes you enough, it will hire bounty hunters to attack YOU

here's an idea for the bounty hunter script. make it go both ways.
it would be great if a factory/ pirate station/ even a race could take out a contract on your head if your reputation with them goes too low or you kill too many of their ships.
the higher your fighting rank and the more you irritated the enemy; the more dangerous the bounty hunters that come after you.
there would have to be a limit of course (can't have too many bounty hunters hunting you).
the bonus would be you get the chance to capture some very nice ships if you survive - these are real bad ass bounty hunters so thier ships have better weapons for you too fight and capture.
and there would have to be a way to get the bounty hunters off your back (ie - kill the person who took the bounty out on you or get on good terms with the race).
would be fun.
PS - please add yakki pirates to the bounty hunters club.
