You say that the script can run side by side with LV's. And it does, but the same freighter now asks for an escort twice...

Quite logical. There are only so many ships out there that satisfy all x number of requirements, so overlap can happen. Accept them both and see what happens, an excelent chance to compare them if it does work.

Now, my script can handle multiple ships at a time requesting an escort. I put in a check when finding ships to escort to exclude ships that are already being escorted. However, LV's never was designed for multiple ships, his script has no check. So I could add a check to exclude ships that his script is running on, but what's the point if his script will run on my ships? Oh and one more thing; I won't go into details why but his is about 10x as likely to run on my ships than mine are on his.

If you don't like having the occasional overlap, pick which one you want and turn off the other.

Just to let you know I have run both and excepted them from the the same frieghter (figured hey if he wants to pay me twice for one escort :D ). However if you had already accepted the CVM escort the LV one will simply say something like I sent the message along time ago but if you can catch up to me in blank system you can continue the journey at a slightly lower payment. Doesn't matter how far from him you are or how long it was since you recieved the message.

Plus the monitary penalty on a failed mission is a nice touch (realism)
I totaly fail to see how this is realistic and not in fact totaly gamey. I failed the mission I dont get payed. That is penalty enough. The idea that I will lose my own credits for allowing the mark to get killed seems ludicrous.

How is not getting paid a penalty you still recieved experience for combat, and free wares the pirates drop, as well as a few ships if you know how to cap' em. I'm not saying in real life you would have to pay money for a failed job but you would loose your source of income which is somewhat similar to a fine. I just feel it is nice to have some insentive to keep the mark alive :D

If you were to recieve 20,000 credits for safe delivery and he dies you are still 20K poorer in relation to how much wealth you would have had he lived. Therefore it is a penalty.

The penalty is 15% not 100%

The penalty was added so that this didn't turn into a quick "Spawn pirates and capture as many as I can before he dies" script.

The penalty that one gets for not safe delivery is 100% of the fee as this is exactly what one forfits.

Any sum representing a fine above that is ridiculous and much more realistic would be a hit to frequency of any further escort missions. I mean who are you paying the fine to?

If you are a babysitter and a child gets run over by a train while you are watching him, you go to jail. This happened recently in my area.
If you are hired to escort someone and that person dies, the Teladi charge 15%. They are the commercial police, union representatives, whatever. This was explained in the message, so it's not just some arbitrary slap on the wrist. Therefore, I think the penalty is in fact realistic.

Should the player accept an escort mission, they have 2 sources of income. One is paid only upon success of the mission, when the freighter pilot pays his share of the trade profits. The other is captured ships, increased notoriety, flying wares and police license rewards for destroying pirates. This one happens whether or not the mission succeeds or not.

If the mission does not succeed the player has still benefited, potentially more than the reward of the escort mission itself. And if the player gets a good capture it can be worth many times more than offered reward.

Edit: If the player is a lousy shot and nearly bankrupt, the player can still break even if he succeeds in just 1 out of 8 missions. And that's not including the extras I mentioned.

Lastly, when you are charged a fine, if you don't have enough money you don't pay.

OK, perhaps I'm being thick....

I have the comm chatter framework, and I have the options set to on (or yes, whatever it is) in the AL menu.

I have the MonitorCommChatter option available in the menu. If I start this my ship speed drops to zero and I stop. I have the Arrested Dev messages popping up all over the place (at least I did until I got rid of them), so I'm guessing I have it all installed correctly, but...

... No missions.

Are ships supposed to comm me first or do I need to actively seek them out? And if I do, then what do I need to look for?

Apologies for the dumbo nature of my questions... :D

Cheers,

Rob.

You need to look for ships that have their names changed to BlahBlah Requesting Escort. Then you comm them.

I had this when I tried the script last night, it came up with the msg 'I sent the message along time ago but if you can catch up to me ....' so I still followed the TS to the destination, and never got a message advising I had been paid for it!!! Anyone else experiencing this?

You caught up to him, but didn't resend the message.

Found an unintended side effect (not a bug, but not a feature either).

I hired a TL to transport a station, then told it to go to rolk's drift. Then I open up the sector map so I could look at a couple other things, then I see: "Argon Mammoth; Requesting Escort". So I flip on my monitor comm chatter button, and yup, sure enough, my own hired TL is going to pay ME to transport MY station.

I am also going to make LV aware of this :)
