-- The Syndicate --

The Syndicate is a modification for X3 Reunion, which
incorporates additions to the normal X3 galaxy,
including modified sectors from X3, as well as the
addition of all new sectors. It begins the player
as a member of the Daigon Syndicate, a very succesful
pirate organization that is hated by the Argons and
Borons for their corruption, and loved by the Teladi
for their deep pocketbook.

The player starts in the Syndicate's home sector, the
previously unknown sector between Montalaar and New
Income. He begins with a personal ship, a factory,
and a basic freighter. The choice of difficulties
determines the credits and level of equipment given
to the player by the Syndicate.

The Syndicate, as a highly profitable group, has
stations placed all over the galaxy that offer those
in good standing with the Syndicate access to *FREE*
energy cells for use as jumpdrive fuel. It also has
a network of relay stations that transmit data back
to Horden Daigon, the Syndicate's leader.

The Syndicate also offers the ability to purchase
many ships and stations from its shipyard that cannot
be found anywhere else in the galaxy. The nearby
equipment dock also stocks almost every upgrade that
a pirate could want.

As an extra bonus, the Syndicate mod features Terran
sectors inspired by the plot of X3. These sectors
include Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Pluto and more. The
Terrans even offer the sales of their incredibly
advanced ships as well, including the Valkyrie, Thor,
Mjollnir, and Odin.

Available soon in the upcoming versions of the
Syndicate, more sectors will be added, and a basic
series of campaign missions will be released, which
feature Sargon's mysterious vessel, also from the
plot of X3.

-- Background --

After the Battle of Omicron Lyrae, the Argon Senate
laid out a decree for the Argon Expeditionary Forces
to search for and chart all possible jumpgate routes.
The result was the discovery of many new gates, and
the colonization of many of the older uncharted
sectors. This surge of newfound territory and rapid
seizures of empty sectors lead others to place high
priority on claiming and holding new space.

Meanwhile, a group of like-minded pirate 'families'
were looking to make a name for themselves, and
after discussions and exchanges, formed a coalition.
They were lead by the wealthiest family leaders, and
worked together to improve opportunities and gains
for the entire group.

However, one aspiring family leader, Horden Daigon,
did not like taking orders, knowing full well that
he could do a better job and take the families to
new heights of fame and fortune. He personally
assassinated the pirate leader, and assumed control.

He promptly renamed the group the Daigon Syndicate,
and spent a great deal of resources uniting the
Families into a cohesive force to be reckoned with.
He knew that the only way to true success was with
the acquisition of an unclaimed sector. He chose the
uncharted sector between Montalaar and New Income.

This sector, the Holy Grail of space property, lies
in arguably the most strategic position in the entire
galaxy. Sitting directly between three different
races' outposts (Argon, Boron, and Teladi), this
sector not only acts a good middle ground, but is in
the absolute most central location of the entire
galaxy; any sector in the galaxy can be reached in
less than 18 jumps.

Horden Daigon persuaded the families to pool their
resources, selling every posession they owned in
order to finance a large fleet of war vessels to
take the target sector by force. Two destroyers and
three corvettes were purchased or 'loaned' from
military assets across the galaxy.

The fleet amassed in Bala Gi's Joy, and simultaneously
jumped into the Unknown at full throttle, with weapons
hot and shields charged. They were greeted by silence
and emptiness, as the sector had not yet been claimed.
Horden Daigon immediatly ordered a full scan of the
sector's boundaries and contents. The resulting find
was a couple of asteroids, and the two known gates.

Daigon's next action was to utilize the entire fleet
to literally push the gates and asteroids into more
central positions, and to procure some physical
property from which to build their empire. The fleet
was sent to an outlying Argon sector, from which a
shipyard and equipment dock were 'liberated' and
returned to their new home sector. The battle,
however, took the toll of a destroyer and corvette,
but the remaining fleet made a hasty retreat once the
stations were securely in place.

With the success of their actions, Horden Daigon
christened his new home "Syndicate Supremecy" in honor
of the victory over the Argon and the wonderful gains
the Syndicate had made. From this point, Daigon has
lead the Syndicate Families in multiple battles
against many foes, and earned the Syndicate a respect
among the pirate clans, and infamy across all Argon
and Boron sectors, where the order is to shoot any
Syndicate members on sight.

Due to their great placement and leadership, the
Syndicate has made great fortunes, and made good friends
with the neighboring Teladi. Horden Daigon has become
the galaxy's most informed man, rivalling the Argon
Secret Service in intelligence gathering. He has used
this to his advantage many times, including a raid on
Xenon forces, which resulted in the capture of their
solar power plant secrets, which negate the need for
crystals at all.

As families join the Syndicate in hopes of achieving
great success, the years have been rough on the group,
and jealousy and backstabbing are now the method of
choice. The Syndicate is beginning to fall apart from
the inside, and it is unknown just how long it will
stay together.

-- Installation --

- Extract the contents of the .rar file into your X3
  directory
- Copy the appropriate difficulty files from inside
the scripts folder into the main scripts folder,
overwriting the normal file (optional for Normal diff)
- Start X3, and at the configuration dialog, click the
'Select Mod Package' button, then highlight the entry
'Daigon Syndicate' and click OK, then 'Start X3'
- Start a new game, and choose 'Custom Galaxy', then
  choose the 'Syndicate' map
- Have fun!

-- Compatibility --

This modification should work with any version of X3,
but version 1.2 or later is highly recommended.

- Text file 447800 is used for basic text.

-- Version History --

WOW :o , that looks great. I am going to play this until the patch comes out, then when I have finished the plot, I will mosst likely come back and build up an empire on this. Is it possible to get your reputation up with the Argon and Boron, or are there just as many oppurtunities for trade, expansion and ship buying with the syndicate.

Yes, your reputation with the Argon and Boron races can be improved, but with what is in the Syndicate shipyard, and the neighboring Teladi shipyard, you should be pretty well set.

Oh, I hacked into galaxy editor and been working on it long before you fools ever figured it out. ;) Besides, I figured I'd have to make a name for myself *somehow* - and just making the awesome scripts I normally do won't cut it, I gotta make the best scripts and mods together :p

Gah, why you had to be a beta tester? :P Oh well, trying to make a name for yourself is understandable... it's what you do in X3 isn't it? :D

Same here, after i finished the plot in X3.. i really wanted to visit earth, but i couldn't but now i can. 8)

About the ships in earth system etc. It would be useful if one could see the info of the ships such as what type of weapons, missiles etc they can use...

Cool mod tho, makes pirate life alot better. :pirat:

And the pirate's life should be getting even better soon! I am working on a campaign set for the Syndicate, which will have at LEAST three phases of the plot, each with about 4 or 5 missions, including covert ops, stealing experimental ships, and sector invasions and more!

If you like spoilers, or would like to offer suggestions on where the plot is heading, I'm hashing out the plot over on the forums at *** under the X3 Reunion Ideas forum. It's open for all to view and comment on, and will show the basics of what to exect from me in the near future.

And thanks for the comments so far. It's great to see people enjoying my work. =]

Doesnt really look like mars.. you should change the lighting a bit too and make the unique features of mars more visible ^^
Same with earth.

Unfortunately, Egosoft didn't quite include versions of Mars and Earth with X3, so I had to pick the closest planets available. I may change them in a future release if I can find better planets, but for right now, I'm pretty sure thats as close as they will get.

Syndicate Tships file

Nice idea, so I downloaded it and installed it with no problems at all, thanks. My only question is how do I change the ships defaults? Normaly Id unpack the tships.pck file and edited that to my hearts content but for some reason this dosent seem to work. Do you have a different file that uses your own onfo for the syndicate ships :?

Hey, been playing around with the mod, liking it sofar but im havin a few probs with a couple things.

1st issue is the Microchip plant, its a bit useless considering the fact has argon requirements and theres no Wheatfarm in the shipyard and cant buy one from argon, which brings me to my 2nd point: Teladi, Argon, and Boron relations absolutely refuse to increase no matter how many pirates ive killed.
I have a modded jobs.pck for your mod (and am using LV's Arena AL Plugin) to increase enemy spawns and ive killed dozens of pirates in teldai and argon space but Argon is still 13% Confirmed Enemy and Teladi still 36% Profit Venture (or something like that IIRC).

Also I have 2 sector traders running atm in teladi and split space, split going up fine, teladi still the same.

Yeah, having the chip plant use argon resources was an accident. It's a Teladi fab, and I meant to have the setup script initialize it with a cheap Teladi resource, not wheat, so that will be fixed in an upcoming release. In the meantime, even if you set your buying price on all the chip fab's resources to max, you still turn over 100% profit, and then the NPC traders will do all the supplying for you...

As for the Argon and Boron relations, I will also be changing your starting relations in the upcoming release as well. I hadn't realized that the notoriety script command has changed somewhat since X2, so that results in more of a relation change than I had anticipated. I am basically attempting to have the player start out with his relationship with Argons and Borons just below the point where they shoot on sight, meaning it will soon be much easire to get back into good standing with them if your are persistent.

Baleur wrote:Oh i see, so there is no way to add your own textures?
At the moment, no there isnt, and if X3 is anything like X2 (it is), then there probably wont be any easy way of doing so without replacing an existing texture, but only time will tell. With the next release, the look of Mars will be changing anyways to reflect the fact that Earth would have terraformed it centuries ago anyways...

I don't mind you showing it on your site, but I would prefer if you linked those interested to my own download page. I have unlimited bandwidth, and I would like to have all downloads come from my server so I can track download histories and such. But as long as you link to my download page (http://x.leetcode.net/syndicate.php) and give due credits, I would absolutely love for you to have this on your site.

I managed to increase teladi standing, over 150 ships killed (id say all but 10-20 in teladi space) and went from 36 to 37%. Didnt realize it went up so far, and considering u need the next level up to get the teladi M1/M2 it would take a many of pirate to be able to buy one lol.

Uploaded to my site as an alternative download location, credit goes to owner. I'll keep track of the version of your galaxy as much as I can. If bandwidth becomes a issue for me I'll pull it off. Oh and I"ll also add your site link in my description if people are having issues. They shoudln't as I have 75G allocation bandwidth per month which is pretty good. only 75Meg is used so far.

determines the credits and level of equipment given
to the player by the Syndicate.
There's a certain event that happens in X3 after a lot of play time that changes the name and race control of this particular sector, accompanied by a series of BBS messages.

Can I assume that this event is disabled for you mod, or could it still happen and cause a potential problem?
