I have it! You were an enemy of the Paranid. Who else is an enemy of the Paranid? The Argon. The Argon recovered your DNA from the crash and cloned you, so you can seek revenge.

Yes, I like it. :D

Edit: An'ki Drakhar: Female clone of the original Scion Drakhar, given a fitted Pirate Kestrel and told to bring pain and death to Paranid where ever she finds them. Of course, not right away, because she's got to find them first, so I won't P/O them at first.

Running as a DiD, using no Paranid Ships, running Bailing Add-On, Salvage Claim Software, and starting in Argon Prime.

Away to write! Link to follow: A Pirate's Revenge

And yes, it is a girl.

Aw, what a way to end.
I read the whole thing over course of last night and this afternoon, and it quickly made me want to start a pirate character.

Edit: Ha, just started my Bankrupt Assassin.
There were no missions for me in Aladna Hill, and I didn't want to deal with Pirates just yet, so I went straight south into Light of Heart.

Still no missions (for me), but there was a single red blop on the gravidar; a Boron piloting a Dolphin Super Freighter XL.

Now, I'm still brand new to X-Universe and my first game is X3:TC, and so far I've really only done trading, so I'm still reaaaaaaally inexperienced with combat. I first comm him to surrender his freight, but he's confused and says hes at peace. Then I unload with my starting two HEPTs and his shields drop before I can even realize they're gone and he quickly starts losing hull and before I can comm him he's bailed and the ship is at 46% hull.

Now apparently the local Argon didn't take kindly to this as they wouldn't let me dock, but no one shot at me, although a hostile Paranid flew past me.

So in the course of about 5 minutes I came into possession of a Dolphin Super Freighter XL. Who'dve thunked it.

Edit2: I think I might play by your rules and see how I do.
After completing an escort mission of 4 freighters from Aladna Hill to Heart of Light, which involved killing some pirates, I went up from Suspected Foe to Federation Member, which is nice; now I can dock and maybe sell this dolphin.

I've decided I am going to start another DiD, but it really has to be Vanilla. I am curious, however, to see if anyone has any input regarding the start and rules for play. Anyone? Anyone at all?

Well, maybe you could be Patriotic Argon and care only for the honor and glory of the Argon race/its allies, and vehemently hate/attack its enemies. Combat-focused still.

That's first thing that came to mind; I haven't read any others but I imagine a Trading-focused one would be rather dull to read.

I don't really know about rules aside from the DiD.

Edit: Could also be an extremely Xenophobic Terran.

Ha, yeah, a smuggler could be good.
Not so sure about that Boron bit, but a smuggler would be interesting.

Well, you expect Split and Teladi to be smugglers, though Teladi strike more as Weed Smugglers.

Paranid naturally can pass it off as part of their religion.

Argon have the freedom to try it if they want.

But Boron are generally law-abiding, and not the sort you expect to be smuggling.

Unless you want to be a Goner Smuggler.

What about Terran, although I'm still an X-newb so I don't know if they're more problematic or something?

There are two problems with Terrans, neither of which would affect me so much 'in game' unless you guys come up with some bloody difficult rules to follow. The first is their economy. Because of the HUGE sectors and lack of jumpgates it takes a bloody long time to get anything from A-B. Also their factories have this annoying habit of disappearing. In my poisoned paranid game I actually had a kestral on its way to dock at the PSP forge in the moon sector. I'd dropped a TM off in the Asteroid Belt and fired off four of those little buggers to various fabs in Terran space specifically to keep the ones I needed around. So, the kestral was in the same sector as the Forge and on it's way to dock, which means it had already recieved docking permission. The bloody Forge up and vanishes ... and don't get me wrong, either, I was already trading with it. I had a baldric wandering around the Mars-Moon sectors trying to feed the thing. The kestral was insurance, much needed as it turns out.
The second problem with the terrans: you can't buy and build their factories. Supposedly very late in the game you can, after the Aldrin missioons or something, but I've never gotten there. So if you decide you want to use Claymore M8's (for instance) you have to rely on the one single solitary phantom missile fab in the game ... provided it doesn't disappear on you. You also can't build additional food or tech fabs to feed the others. Hence, the bloody economy.
Other than that I rather like Terran tech ... specifically their destroyers. 12GJ of shielding with enough firepower to frag a Xenon station in less than a minute. Mmmmmm...

I'm rather liking the notion of a Goner falling from grace though. I'm thinking af a transitional set of rules, too. Starting off all pacifistic and what not and then moving through the primary Goner plot into violence ... then criminality. What do you guys think?

The other problem being that it's impossible to smuggle in Terran Space because nothing is illegal.

I like the idea of a Goner falling from grace. I can't wait to see what you do with it.

Apparently mine isn't that popular.

cool story so far (i'm at point 11).
as a french speaking, i have to correct you on the few french words you use : "ce la vie". it's not correct... it should be "c'est la vie".

thanks for amusing me during a loooong and boring summer work day.
