Someone, as a curiosity, start a game and shoot the instructor. If I remember correctly he is set to unkillable. If that's true then he must be somewhere. I don't think he will dock, but in ten days he may have drifted pretty far from the "downtown" part of the sector. Did you check above and below the center plane?

Does unkillable mean he does not get removed at some point?
I remember some unkillables in Ocracoke's Storm that vanished after being attacked by Yaki non-stop for several gamedays.
Will from time to time be looking for him. As I do like to get the simple achievement, I will probably restart for it, when I do I WILL shoot the instructor .. I have my reasons ...

You do realise that can just restart with a new game, quickly get the training achievement registered there and then go back to your original long-term game saves?
