(AP) Needed firepower to keep complex safe?

Post by Allan F » Fri, 23. Nov 18, 16:50

I'm just about to finish off a megacomplex in Loomanckstrats Legacy - producing 2 Gj Shields. There's 100 2Gj shield factories.

How many M2s and M7's do I need? I've got a bunch of Brigantines laying about, and Carracks with PBCs. I'm going to dump a thick line of lasertowers to the nearest jumpgate, and use Falcon Haulers to ferry the shields to an equipment dock.

Goose: No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.
Maverick: Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz a Split.
Split: Split now give you .... Aaaarrriiiigh.

There is one other little game wrinkle that you could try. Keep destroying and capping pirate capitals in that sector and after a while they will mostly start spawning in other pirate areas instead. Then you should encounter mainly lighter pirate patrols there as long as you or another race don't wipe out the pirate capitals elsewhere.

I have some Wheat Farms and corresponding Argon Food Fabs in Loomanck (40 Stations in total). They have been there for a while (couple ingame weeks). There have been at most three Pirate incidents during that time. The maximum threat level has been at a Nova Raider with two friends.

I don't actually see any Big Pirates in the Loo, nor have I erased any. If there were any and if they were banished, that must have been by the faction Military.

In other words, "almost nothing" for me.

I see Carracks popping in every few hours. There's been at least 5, while I was building the complex.

In AP the hardest thing your complex will face will be the corporate reprisals for the Shady Business plot so for that I recommend a perimeter of 10x laser tower clusters every 5km around the complex at close range and 3 M2s.

to save credits, you can also use 1-3 M5 w/ triplex scanners running the scout for enemy command. They will notify you if an enemy is spotted in the sector. you can then choose how to appropriately deal with the intruder by ordering your patrol ships to intercept or by jumping in to kill the intruder yourself.

I'm running a very mature game - built about 11.000 stations so far. My biggest is a 970 monster in Megnir. So expense is not a problem. I've got unarmed Brigantines laying about, all I need is to send them to Presidents End for armaments and shields.

OT: There seems to be a lot of minerals, but (without doing the math) for that many stations?

Yes. I've got huge complexes all over the universe, and ship minerals in by the tankerload. It runs full tilt and has donse so for ingame months.

I've got credits rolling in faster than I can build complexes in other sectors. 420 billion so far, IIRC.

:o :o :o :o

That's... dedication. Hat's off, Allan F. That's what needs a special kind of "achievement", I think, not the "build 5 factories".

In that game, my total build count is well beyond 12.000 stations. And my old 750 Ti is running its small legs off to keep up.

8) Awesome, as expected.

Some OCD would try to make remarks about the sloppy tug job, but those never get the job done.
