XL cargo was on its way out

Manta's would cost 400k

Cargo capacity was about to be lowered


what would you think.

I'd think they better seriously overhaul the TP bbs missions to reflect the reduced cargo size. And reduce Passengers to 1/S size per unit so people don't get dumped out the airlock.

As they currently stand only the Manta has a large enough hold for these jobs.

Although seriously, the TP needs fixing because it has made the TS more or less obselete.

While you're at it, give TS ships speeds more indicative of an M5.

I would say 'whatever' except for the price change... which would see the TP used never used again.

UNless somehow it was scripted that the existing ships cost more and the balance is deducted from your account in which case I'd go broke.

Must be done, TPs are grossly unbalanced.

A TP is analogous to a bus. You can't fill a bus with heavy cargo, for that we use lorries. Buses are full of seats. Imagine the complaints from passengers if the run before, that TP had been shovelling ore collected from space. There would be grit everywhere.

The TP class was never intended to be an additional freighter - it was designed from the outset as a passenger transport. The fact that they are useless for passengers (no demand) and they excell at the job that a TS is intended for (trucking) shows that they have been inaccurately implemented, and need adjusting.

TS ships are fine at their job - it's just that the TP is insanely better. I think at the very least the TC should be reduced to M - when was the last time you saw a bus that could load pallets?

Needs to be done, otherwise the TS class is nearly worthless. TS type ships are traditionally slow, cheap vessels, maximizing profits for their owners. Only time in RL this didn't hold true was with the advent of clipper ships, and these were more like TPs anyway. Cargo transports are slow with huge cargo capacity while passenger ships are faster and carry very limited cargo.

And during conflicts, they are always prime targets. The Spanish found this out the hard way in the Caribbean in the 16th and 17th centuries. And just look at what the German navy did in the Atlantic in WWI and WWII, and the US Navy in the Pacific in WWII. Freighters are sitting ducks, that need protection.

It's just the way it is.
