[X2] Universe Trader

I've got a trader equipped with a jump drive, level 11, but when i order him to trade, he doesn't seem to jump anywhere, but uses gates instead. What gives?

A level 11 trader doesn't make use of a jumpdrive--that doesn't come until they hit level 12, if memory serves me.
