I wish Egosoft would just announce what they're up to so we can all get back on with the serious business of arguing about which M6 is best.
Although from a marketing standpoint allowing everyone tear up the forums with speculation and conjecture is as good as advertising can get.

I'd love it to be an mmo or atleast something that can be played via LAN.
Possibly where I play a game (from statrt to finish) and then people can join my game (like friends) and play along with as another empire in my universe and they can land and log off or leave it run with my empire if theyve automated it or whatever, just so I can play it with my partner and some of my mates.
I really loved freelancer, but it would rip X up to make it like that, if it has to be an MMO they will have 2 set it up some how so that players have to co-operate to some degree, e.g. have an argon millitary, you sign up to it as a noob (to get commition), then an admin or big player with the power assigns you to a carrier or escort a freighter or something like that.
Dont know how they would deal with seta, maybe if big ships/freighters could "warp" (and not fighters) and nearby ships (not warp capable ships) could warp with it. Would be a good way to force noobs to co-operate with frieghter pilots, like "ill protect you or ill be stuck in space for ages if you and youre warp drive gets blown up", then there could be some kind of jammer for pirates to use to pull people out of warp, like a mine with a big AoE.
If they do it right it would be good.
Somebody mentioned there was somewhere to sign up for BETA's? Anybody got a link to that? I always like BETA testing, even if its not TNBT.

well it is my wish to this game evolve to mmo i wouldn't mind one sec to cruse w my python among other folks sharing this unique space sim, which this game is space sim not game that is happening in space and i have naive hope that it will not be like all others mmo,s guys behind this game moved boundaries of how to make something wright and i dont think they can fail in it...but all my wishing aside i don't think they are cooking mmo.
Personally I think going MMO is a good way to kill their current fan base. MMO games punish players who aren't hardcore as a standard. Most of the people here willing to sweat out out X games are people who have devotion and patience, but are also intelligent enough to realize their life doesn't revolve around a game all the time. Or atleast that's how I see most of the X community anyway.Hyppe wrote:If Egosoft wants to 'abandon' majority of their current user base, go MP! Personally, I wouldn't touch MP X even with a long stick. For those ppl who want to play MP games, go play MP games and leave good SP games as they are
Duke's Buccaneers... I hate you so much... I am sooo demolishing your HQ when our business is finished....
God I played WoW for 3 years, and wish I could have all that time back. I will never play another MMO again.
I could go on forever about what is wrong with the genre. Literally forever. Suffice it to say the MMO environment brings out the worst in people as well as bringing your overall quality of life way down.
It also brings down the quality of PC games as a whole. Whole genres have disappeared as the result of how easy it is to take money from stupid people. (yes I know.. the irony.. )

Agreeing with the legions saying an MMO would be a big mistake.
I have never played one, every now and again I become tempted and have to mentally slap myself. . .
I did quite like Spore's experiment with the Massively Single Player Online Game concept. Shame Spore was such a flop really as we might not see any more of this IMO promising concept.
Other players being able to influence my game (entirely under my control) GOOD, playing with them BAD.

Another space MMO would be a bad idea, EVE has that niche market corner covered and it seems to be doing well, that said I could see "Multiplayer" working in a space game IF it is set up to a certain number of players and they are working together towards the same goal... sort of clan vs game style multiplayer.
I mean it would be cool to fly in squadrons with some good buddies and take on big capital ships in some fast fighters.

I disagree, I dont think Eve have it covered, I uninstalled EVE as it required absolutely no skill. The click and attack thing they had going on was very uninteresting and unskilled. I think thats where X gets me, I can fly about from Cockpit view, strafe big ships and suddenly it dont matter if im in an M3 or an M2, its down to my skill how much damage I do. EVE is very different, its all down to the size of youre ship/guns on that, how rubish.
Just to be clear, this is with respect to their combat, which is constrained by the reality of trying to track fights potentially including hundreds of ships or more.I disagree, I dont think Eve have it covered, I uninstalled EVE as it required absolutely no skill.
Doing it dice-based requires a ridiculously smaller amount of bandwidth than trying to deal with all the real time ballstics of a good X fight
On the other hand, I'd say Eve is brilliant in any other respect. And its economy is to drool for.
Having said that, I'm still strongly on the Nay side of the MMO argument...multiplayer, fine, but MMO would be very silly.

Well, it wasn't long dead. Less than a month.
We've had several years before... 5 is the record IIRC?
Anyway, it's annoying to know they've been working on TNBT for 4 years now, and that all their employees know what it is... and we don't.
But I'll tell you what, when they release it it'll be worth the wait.

seems to me that w.e it is that they have planned was not possible 4 years ago and may have just been an idea, perhaps they have been waiting for the technology in gaming to advance to a level by which they can tackle the concept

Well, it's 2011 now, they've just released the X3TC 3.01 patch, saying that their efforts is directed towards this TNBT.
Despite being a bit obvious, I state sincerely that all I can hope for in this game, is what i've hoped for X3TC and unfortunatedly didn't happen, and in my oppinion really killed the great capabilities of the game: Make the game engine multicore capable dear Egosoft, please.
