Notus Hauler?

I am playing X3:TC - 2.5 - Total Vanilla and have NEVER used any mods to cause anything to happen outside the way the original game was made

I was flying from my Hub into Ore belt to pick up my next Plutrach Corp mission when i spotted a HUGE convoy of "Argon Nova" i thought this in itself was quite odd as they didnt say Millitary or Plutrach or have anouther corp prefix. Then i spotted that the where all set to "Escort Notus Hauler" At which point i thought a WHAT!! :? I scrolled back up and sure enough there was Notus Hauler at the top of the list...

I forgot all about my Corp mission and followed it as it flew through the east gate into my Hub! In the hub i saved and thought i'd try to "relieve" the pilot of his ship! So i start shooting as soon as it turns red all its convoy jumps and leaves the Notus on its own! - I think Great makes my job easier! and return to blastin' away his shields. At 90% hull i comm him and ask him to surrender and he says quite politely "NO" so i return to blasting with my weaker weapons lowering his hull very slowly sometimes allowing his shields to replenish a bit.

At 87% hull he turns blue and i think YES I win  then notice the familiar flash of the ship as it jumps just as its convoy had done much earlier.

Ive reloaded and tried again twice with the same effect

1. Notus goes red - Convoy leaves
2. Notus hull 87% (ish) Notus jumps

Now for the questions!!

1. Im confused about the random behavior -- has anyone else had this?

2. This is the first time ive seen the ship "Notus Hauler" its supposedly the Otas M3 but its unbuyable from the Otas Shipyard. Will it be buyable when i get higher Corp level?

3. Will i ever see the thing flying around randomly more often or not?

4. is it actually captureable? Or worth having?

5. Does anyone else think it looks good or is that me being weird again?

6. Are you bored after reading all this?? :P Sorry this was a rather long post

Thanks for any answers

1, Ship initiated jump before he bailed. U will have to find it.
2, it is Oats M3+ version which is unbuyable
3, not sure, havent noticed myself.
4, Not caped one before, and not really a good ship in my view, but eventually will cap one to add to the collection when I get HQ.
5, not seen it in a while, cant remember.
6, yes :P

4. Capturable, yes. Worth having, no :D.
5. I think it looks butt ugly. It looks the same as the Pirate Eclipse or Advanced Eclipse. On the plus side, it doesn't look like a woodlouse.

First up, you can`t cap it as it`s an M3/M3+, the model is based on the Argon Eclipse so if you like the Eclipse then yes it`s a nice ship.

Only way to get one is to hope the pilot bails, or when you get the PHQ you will at some point be offered the BluePrint for it, look for stations with a lightbulb icon above them after you have obtained and deployed the PHQ.

Do i find this post boreing..... not in the slightest !! :D

I don't think you can buy blueprints for any of OTAS ships, any prototype ships, Hyp or Agamemnon... [/code]

The Notus hauler is a very good M3 +............. 169 speed, 125 MJ shields, 8000+ weapons generator, very good weapon selection etc etc.

In looks and feel it reminds me of the old P51 Thunderbolts from WW2, i really like them.

I think there are always 2 floating around as part of a Argon force, i managed to cap both of them (took a few reloads) they are good partners to the quicker and more agile Solano's in my OTAS task force.

Hmm... did you mean P-51 Mustangs, or P-47 Thunderbolts? :)

They were quite different in looks and performance..
