Pirate Identification Guide

Version history:

Version 1.1 - I have added the "Goner" pirate and the fake pirate to the guide, and italicized the race names for readability.
July 31, 2009
Version 1.0 - Initial version of the guide.
I have recently finished compiling a picture gallery of all the known pirates, and thought I should warn everyone to be on the lookout for these shady characters, lest they attack your precious ships and stations. The Yaki have been accused of masquerading as Pirates to shift the blame for their nefarious activities, so keep in mind that they will usually look like these rogues too. Every race is represented except the Terrans. They claim that piracy is beneath them and that it is a trademark of the lesser Commonwealth races, but it appears that some of them act as privateers, privately requesting assassinations against Commonwealth targets to avoid associating the Terran government with such devious activities. Be on the lookout for Terran fighters in Commonwealth space, and you will probably find these privateers.
If you find any pirate character that I missed, please send me a screenshot and I'll add them to the guide. This guide is primarily intended to help people trying to raise their Pirates reputation through missions. If you can verify that the mission you're considering is coming from a Pirate, you can be sure that completing it successfully will raise your reputation with the Pirates.

Warning: This pirate masquerades as a member of the Goners, but closer inspection reveals that he/she/it is named "Unknown Object", and speaks like a member of one of the Commonwealth races (e.g. Split, Teladi, etc.). These deceptive criminals usually fly Pirate freighters, and it is suspected that they hide their real identities in an attempt to smuggle contraband.
Fake Pirate

This individual is sometimes mistaken for a pirate, but is in fact a genuine Split citizen. His ammunition belts give inexperienced pilots the impression that he is a pirate, but he is most likely a member of the Split military or the Strong Arms Corporation. Attack him only if you wish to incur the wrath of the Split government.
