An illustrated guide to boarding a Boreas using an M7M
Moderator: Moderators for English X Forum
I have a different method of boarding, however, with a bit more trouble.
note: using MARS and an advanced boarding script allowing marine transport. (because I only have the Boron M7 Thresher, not the M7M which is what I need $$$ for.
I load my front turrets with ion weapons (draining shields and engine speed), reducing chances of hull damage. Then, when below 8%, I start transporting marines (and is still a relatively slow process, but at least I don't loose them, unless I loose distance). The problem is trying to stay close enough to the ship because it's so damn big and not crashing into it (or getting shot down by escorts). Getting away and expecting the ship to be taken isn't a big deal.
But I can never seem to make the make enemy/apologise combo right. I always end up loosing rep, or turning everyone mad.

If your M7M is being shot at you started FAR too close.
The flails have a range of 48.3 KM. Assuming the Hype goes at max possible speed it will take about 5 minutes to close that gap if you stand still.
Here's how I Capped a second Hyperion (I'm on the PP Start) for RE using an Ares.
Starting at around 30km, with only 6 marines on board, going max speed (77m/s) in the opposite direction fire 3 hammers then when the hammers reach around half way 1 flail every 10-12 seconds. As soon as the hammers hit launch the marines via the piracy menu, then keep up the flails for a few more launches.
If he gets too close use turbo boost or if the marines have started cutting & the shields are low enough engage jump drive.
Alternatively if you pilot a fast/well shielded M3/6 & use that to lower the shields & distract him (wasps are good as they do low damage but confuse turrets) then launch the marines from the M7M remotely.

At wich distance should we launch our marines ?
i am most of the time receiving the message that my board party was killed.
i wanted to launch all my 4 pods, or at least 2 pods, but by the board piracy, i only can launch one .
Damm...2 hours trying captured the Hyperion V. and nothing.........
i am cursed......

I capped the Hyperion Vanguard just a day ago with my dragon and spacewalking boarding :)
It was my hardest spacewalking board up until now (the Hyperion is such a quick turner), but I succeeded with only 1 marine loss of the 5.
Each had around 4 stars in all skills but fighting, and fighting was around 2 or 3 stars.
But I tend to save everytime the whole crew reaches a new deck, and reload when one dies so that's maybe why I lost only 1 :)

I didn't find it particularly hard. All I did was close right up on its butt and shoot it full of HEPT until the shields went down and it got angry with me. I immediately launched marines using the special command menu (not piracy) to drop them into space without ceremony.
The enemy Hype turned around to chase me and start firiing. I kept hitting him with my HEPTs to keep his shields down and circled him once. When I was around his rear again I shot through my own marine cloud (careful not to pick any up) and he chased me right into them. They latched on, and I circled to keep firing to keep his shields down until they were through the hull.
It sounds more complicated than it is, really.
P.S. Of course with a dragon I could see how that would be more difficult, as the thing turns like molasses.

Nope. It's listed in the Guides sticky, and is still current. So it's fine.Infekted wrote:Guys guys guys... Year old thread? For shame on you ;p
This is probly gonna get locked pretty sharpish.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

I started a new game where I intend to do a lot of spacewalk boarding. but I have a few RP rules that are hampering things. No Salvage insurance, only piloting my Enhanced Kea.deca.death wrote:Oh please, don't tease poor newbies. It is very difficult and it is very complicated and I, as a post 3.0 veteran of spacewalk boarding can confirm that. You were just very lucky. If you don't believe me, try same thing again.rwhiteruff wrote:

I took a Hydra with no problems, then tried to take a Centaur. Hours later, I felt like puking with anger and frustration

Check the guides - I took my Hyperion with Spacewalk - but I used a TP to deliver them while I flew the Centaur and kept control of his shields.
It's just a case of click on map - select TP - Command - Piracy - etc... - the TP should start some distance away to avoid getting targetted early and pick a fast well shielded one (Phantom is great for this - upgrade speed + rudder to max).
Then once you've told it to start piracy close map and strafe fire on the Hyp to keep shields down and lure it into the spacewalking marines
Although I now have a Kraken M7M and have taken a Yaki Shuri M1 as my first prize Although I was a bit over-excited and was actually aiming for a M2 not an M1 - still its sitting in my complex in Antigone waiting for the PPC's to be built for it Will use it to collect capped fighters I guess or later might try CODEA script
