3D Models and Stats Viewer : Version 2.0.3.2 (12th Dec 2010)

@exo:
Yeah, I can see the meshes, and it's very will indicated visually where you've clicked. But when we're editing turrets, it'd be neat to see the P 0, or P 4, or whatever part we've clicked to tell which turret we need to edit.
An indicator at the bottom right of the screen like this would be slick:
P 12, X: -12333 Y: 12300 Z: 278888
It shows we've selected the 12th entry in the scene file, and the co-ordinates of that small brown dot in your screen shot, which is the center of the pivot point.
As an aside, your little app here has saved me countless hours as it is. So this isn't a complaint! You've done excellent work as it is.

I like your 'show the sub-part P-index & XYZ point' when model is clicked-on, should be easy,
even though it would be purely for modders & probably meaningless to general players.
Reloading a model while it's being displayed would be a bit more involved, have to think about that.
Need to sort XTC stats out a bit as well (soonish)

Yep; no go.exogenesis wrote:cheers Litecube & Roguey, will get back to it some time.
Hi DerekBaker, not sure how many other Vista 64 owners use the viewer,
thought there were a few it was working for OK though.
Have you tried setting it to run in 'XP compatible' mode ?
If it's any sort of clue, on the version from the X3R 2.0 disc all I got was a small red square in the top right corner.

Cheers Alan, good to have confirmation.
The red square is supposed to indicate the viewer will load 'extracted'
game files (aka partly 'raw game files' mode).
If you're getting that without having selected that option specifically
(in the options menu) then something is seriously out of kilter, I'd more
likely expect a crash if it's going that wrong (which would be more useful
cos I could diagnose the problem from the crash log file).
Not sure what to suggest atm.

With the latest version I don't get the square, just a big black space.exogenesis wrote:The red square is supposed to indicate the viewer will load 'extracted'

Hello again exogenesis. Could I please trouble you to have a look at the following thread where I identify significant differences in function of the Sprayshop tool in the Viewer and the same facility in the PHQ in-game (for the Aran at least - it affects lit coloured panels and stripes). Thanks.

Well spotted.
Not got an Aran to test on, but looks like this is the 'offending' texture,
metal_argon_exhaust_trims_02_light.dds which changes to pink with a 270 hue 160 sat. setting
in the viewer, shrunk down a bit :
[ external image ]
Viewer's doing the right thing colour-wise, but maybe not with the right types of textures,
thought it was all correct last time I looked at this (quite a while back),
so don't know if in-game spray-shop behaviour changed for 'glowy' textures
between X3:R & X3:TC, or whether the viewer's always been wrong in that way.
Possibly not many ships use extensive glow like the Aran, but I can't remember exactly.
Will have to cheat myself in an Aran & other's to see what it's supposed to do now.

Is Viewer A Mod.
I downloaded the viewer thinking it sounded an intriguing tool. I am now hestitating running it as I do not want to polute the vanilla state of my present game. Is this a mod., can it adversly affect the running of my game in any way?
The BANISHED RETURNS.

Congratulations Egosoft on increasing memory usage from 2 to 3 Gb.
Bin playing X too long when Egosoft refuses to sell you their latest game?
The only steam I want is in my kettle! STEAM=GAME OVER.

It's not a Mod, it just reads the installed Cats & Dats (including those from Fake Patches & Mods like XTC).
I have found that it seems to increase the incidence of Crashes-to-Desktop (CTD) if I'm in the process of loading models in it when transitting through a gate or loading a savegame, but if I'm just doing a "Load Stats" (rather than "Load") with no loading/rendering of ship models, this doesn't apply.

It typically only indicates those models parts (or indices to parts) that
the viewer doesn't support atm (e.g. docking arms, docking bay doors).
OldLis, sorry I didn't reply earlier, if you've still got the .dmp file(s) then
just post them on a free file sharing site (e.g. 4shared etc) & PM me the link.
Must try & catch up with the X2 v1.4 problem that was pointed out.
JAFA_NZ, guess that's interaction of X3 using/partially resetting DirectX
while the viewer's using it too. Not bomb proof obviously.
