1)Thanks, understand on the find ships not being part of the map. As far as it working, sorry, I hadn't tried to find a specific ship other than seeing what the pilot log would look like after use. The prompts are not completely intuitive, in that they led "me at least" to simply follow the prompts until I saw what I wanted to find. Also I may have pressed the wrong prompt because they are not lined up completely with the text. I thought I was asking for Khaark M2's and instead it gave me every M2 in the game. (some of the buttons make it look like they go to the opposite text)
2) The completion messages weren't that bad, but it also left all those others as well. If the script can't run without logging all its internal workings to the pilot log then yes, it will be annoying, and for me at least not desirable.
As far as using the map outside the game with my log file, that was fine. If there was one thing that might be nice though, I just got a new wide screen LCD and only two zooms levels leaves me with either too small text or having to scroll. What resolution did you write it for? Although I hate to give up my 1680x1050 native! If you could dynamically zoom it as you used it that would really be nice.

For example, if your X3-game is situated in D:\Gamezzz\Copy\X3 ReunionJavelin06 wrote:OK I think I have screwed up the Regfile I am supposed to edit, because it still cant find the directory. can someone show me what its supposed to look like.
you must edit the string
"INSTALL_DIR"="D:\\Gamezzz\\Copy\\X3 Reunion"
attention: double slashes

Map
Hi Scorp,
That was quick... I am impressed with the speed at which you added a sector-viewer.
I do have a couple of questions on the sector viewer...
1. How do you stop it from turning?
2. Can you turn it using the mouse?
3. Can you zoom in and out?
Would you like me to send you the code I did for my sector Viewer? it may help as it has many of these things - it is in C#, but I think there were quite a few comments.
Once again, thanks it's good.
Sirus

Re: Map
No way. But you can stop the turning for a while if you will precisely press the left mouse button on the window.Sirus5 wrote:1. How do you stop it from turning?
It was the 1st version, but i decided to do full automatic turning.Sirus5 wrote:Can you turn it using the mouse?
Yes i can. I`ll make it soon.Sirus5 wrote:Can you zoom in and out?
It's got even better
This map makes it soooo much easier to 'remember' where all my property is,
(and find all those forgotten free ships).
but
two major points
1 Could the 3D view be scalable - its a bit small,
and being able to rotate it manually would be helpful.
2 What's the criteria for 'free' ships - all the Freedom's Reach arrows/starbursts
are showing up as eg 'Free ships .. ReadText2006-2140 - Starburst'
two minor points
1 (Alt - menu) : clear selection, is there a single key press for this ?
2 I can't move the program's main window - ie there's no mouse handle for the main window.
- it would be great if I could have it on my second monitor, whilst also being able to see
X3, & alt-tab between them.
(In windowed mode, the X3 main window also has no mouse handle).
edit: some of these have been raised already - that'll teach me not to refresh the forum page first

I`ll make it later. Scalable or zoomable. I haven`t decided yet.Dave Toome wrote:Could the 3D view be scalable
Look up my previous post.Dave Toome wrote:and being able to rotate it manually would be helpful.
Looks like a bug ? I`ll sak Andrei[<>Ace] about it.Dave Toome wrote:'Free ships .. ReadText2006-2140 - Starburst'
I`m going to add a hot key for it.Dave Toome wrote:(Alt - menu) : clear selection, is there a single key press for this ?
Yes, you can`t at the present.Dave Toome wrote:I can't move the program's main window - ie there's no mouse handle for the main window.
Dont know what to say I`ll see what i can do.Dave Toome wrote:it would be great if I could have it on my second monitor...
The map is updated 2
What`s new:
1) Now you can rotate 3D-sector manually (hold the right mouse button) and zoom it in and out (use mouse wheel).
2) Now you can setup the ability to 3D auto-rotation in the options (F2).
3) Experimental multi-monitor support is added. If you have more than one monitor you`ll be able to switch the program between two monitors with the interface options. There must be a button with the caption "2nd" written on it. Pressing the button must switch the program into the second monitor and change the caption to the "1st". The second pressing must switch the program back to the first monitor.
4) Adden new hot-key F4 to "Clear selection".
5) Fixed setup "Can`t detect X3" problem with Enlight X3.
6) F1 and "Readme_X3_map.doc" are updated.

I can get the map on the 2nd monitor ,
but:
When I press '2nd', the map dissapears from the 1st monitor,
and only shows as a 'X3 Map..' icon in the task bar.
I can only get the map to appear on the 2nd monitor by:
minimise then maximise via the task-bar icon
When it's on the second monitor
(is that just the right half of the extended desktop?)
all mouse interaction seems to work, except for
double-clicking on a sector does nothing .
The 3D is much easier to use with the zoom & manual rotate ,
keep up the ggod work.

Scorp,
You are amazing.... That development has taken very little time... I am impressed. I think most people will like that and I hope they all appreciate it as much as I do.
If there is anything I can do to help, Please let me know.
Thanks
Sirus

Still the same unfortunately, but looking more closely:
when the map is on 2nd monitor, in normal zoom (can see sector names):
when I double click on
Power Circle
this gives the sector info for
Shareholders Fortune
implying the mouse-coord is offset by one screen width (I'm using 1152 x 864)
Wouldn't it be easier to 'just' add a main-window drag-handle, then
it could be put anywhere ?
Thanks for looking at this, I appreciate your time & effort,
but don't go mad with this, it's just a wish-list thing ,
the map is great as it is.
