You didn't give a link. Note it will only be included if the walkthrough is for the most recent version of the game.

Updated another guide.

Whilst this guide has been updated, I wish to point out that there are no new trading features worthy of mentioning for X3 that were not in 1.3. So any trading guide update is basically a removal of 1.3 references.

X3 Economy Guide.

Changes.

Removed 1.3 references since those features are now old and not new. Reworded the sections to make sure it flows with the rest of the guide.

Reworded other sections to explain points better and add stuff ive learnt since i first wrote this guide.

Added some GOD related issues that occur after a game has been played for some time. 1 year in my case.

Explained a default trading script bug relating to freigthers using that script with trading stations and forgetting they are carrying goods if they failed to sell them (not reported, will bring it up on devnet with the guys later).

Added a word on current third party scripts relating to trade and trading stations.

Added some references to the bonus pack updates.

Changed the untested trading networks reference to reflect the fact its not only been heavily tested now but theres a whole guide dedicated to it. Linked to said guide too. A minor over sight :)

The HQ has not been mentioned because its not a trade related station
IMO. Its a shipyard basically and so more suitable for my trading network guide with details with the flow of goods and their usage.

Graph: Some feedback for you.

The first post layout may be better if you separate the X2 guides from the M3 guides. Its a little to easy to click on an x2 guide by mistake right now.

Also.

Trade guides.
1.3 introduced a lot of trade related changes so any guide prior to that is outdated. Any guide for 1.3 or over will still be current and accurate. 1.3 was THE trader patch.

Combat.
These must be 2.02 specific due to the new ships if not the new weapons.

Plot guides.
1.4 is the latest version a plot guide should be to remain accurate today. I think its actually 1.3 but 1.4 should be a safe bet. All changes since 1.4 have been minor and would not effect any guide. Prior to this, lots of major and minor changes occured in every patch since the games release.

Equipement:

I think the presence or lack of equipement in a guide is personal choice. For my part, i prefer to leave some stuff for the player to find out. EG a certain new weapon introduced in 2.02. You know the one :D.

Ships on the other hand should be mentioned and ive found and corrected that in all my guides now that required the new ships be listed. Mainly the combat guide since thats the one that deals with those ships.

A small over sight on my part.

I've noticed you only quote the specs for 1 of the 2 variants of the Super freighters in the economy guide - AFAIK all these come in 2 versions one with more cargo and the other with greater speed.

Also the Combat guide doesn't cover the use of TLs for OOS defence - IMO the Elephant's one of the best wingleaders for OOS patrols.

Good guides though, particularly for new players :D

Thats right, I avoid long boring stats lists and just provide examples to get players started. I think theres a difference between a guide and a reference docs. What your asking about is more suitable for reference docs than a guide.

As for TLs in combat.

My Guide is called "X3 Combat: The Right Role"

Do you think a TL as a sector defender is truely suitable for a guide with a name like that :)

Fair enough - It's just that the ship list is pretty complete and many new players might not realise that there are 2 varieties of the SFs.

I also understand where you're comming from on the sector defenders, it's just that many people (myself included) find Elephants to be one of the most cost effective OOS ships in the game.

As I said before, they're great guides and obviously took considerable effort to write and maintain 8)

The thing I tend to go by with guides is not to try and explain everything. I like to leave stuff for the player to figure out because a game thats fully explained gets boring fast.

I do like to cover the basics and I like to explain how some unusual combinations of features can be made to work in ways players have not considered.

I don't think I could have completed successfully the Bala Gi missions without Roguey's superb plot walkthrough.

Yea me neither. It's not a very easy to follow plot really, it is hard to work out what part of what you are ordered to do triggers the next part of the plot.

The site is current what id call, useable.

Still needs a lot of work but ive had to take time out to make a new theme for mechstorms forums after an invision board update broke the old theme a few days ago.

Typical really, right when im already very busy. :/

Ego might want to hold off on adding those links to the guides thread for now. Im still working on the site and may move them to a new location.

Im using new software so im still finding useful tools for the site and that effects what im able to do and how i do it.

In the mean time the above links will work fine.
