Submissions for X3 Handbook version 3 invited.

Submissions are now invited for guides and game help to be included in version 3 of the X3 handbook.

This is likely to be the final version of the Handbook. Version 2 was put together in a rush and does miss some stuff, so I thought it time to finish the job.

Some things that will be included in this version include :

The bonus pack.
The big mods.
The best scripts.

So please suggest any guide not yet included you feel is worth including, and any script or mod you feel people should know about that may not be getting any attention because its not on the sticky thread.

Also, if any guide in the Handbook v1-2 has seen a big revision and you think the Handbook should include the new version, please suggest it. The work to re-edit upgraded guides is extensive, so only those that have been substantially redone will be considered for replacement.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Submissions are now invited for guides and game help to be included in version 2 of the X3 handbook.

I've had a big break from X3 recently so havent been keeping up with what has been produced by others.

Suggestions so far :

1. Keybourd layout
2. X3 The Rebuild. (new)
3. X3 for Pacifists. (new)
4. The Gameplay Bugs and Issues List.
5. Increased font size.

Please submit links to any suggestions.

Submissions do not need to be a full guide, they can just be a single posting that well informed on something otherwise not covered.

I could send you another Elite pic :-)

On a more serious note, I may submit a few things, but not for a week or so.

The request was for printing actually. Apparently the font size is small when printed.

Thats cool. Unless I get a sudden urge in the near future, it wont be that soon . In all likelihood, it will be in a month or so that I start planning additions. But I thought I'd allow some good lead-time for finding stuff to include.

I'm getting download stats now, so I can also guage the effects of increasing its size.

The handbook still needs a missile guide.

Anyone want to write one ?

Can I volunteer for the Missile Guide - I've had a few thoughts along these lines in the past and try to use them in unconventional ways - I know that might sound kinda dumb - after all you can only fire them right?

If anyone else has already volunteered or has a guide already written then they should take priority, and I'll look at doing something else, perhaps on the bonus pack.

perhaps mentioning avarice, that way there shouldn't be that many avarice posts, and maybe adding a bit telling people who use vanilla the likely hood of winning the lottery

Copied to put into another thread, which is for a guide under construction.

maybe an explanation about the god engine, and a bit telling people what happens when you blow up an asteroid with/without a mine on it

The god-engine bit has already been done. Not sure about mines blowingupering.

Edit :

Small ideas like these can be added to

http://forum2.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=1783463 which is a work in progress that can include a lot of isolated and short, Qand A.

I've uploaded a first cut of the missile guide to the Work In Progress section of the forum:

http://circleofatlantis.com/X3forum/viewforum.php?f=17

At the moment it is just a brain dump of everything that I could think of so there are still a lot of blanks to be filled in and I will work on this over the next week or two.

If anyone has any comments or suggestions or can help to fill in some of the blanks I will be pleased to add your contribution in and acknowledge you in the credits.

cheers....

Another guide idea for someone is .....

The Newbies guide to game starts.

Nanook just wrote a nice paragraph on starting out as a Bankrupt Assassin, which gave me the idea.

Even if different people write different starts, I can compile them.
