just wanted to say how invaluable this handbook is. I've read and previously kept all the separate guides, but in between playing would forget this tip or that, then couldn't remember which guide had the tip! now I just keep the handbook, which I indexed the tips I need on a separate page. along with a few excels like the trade list, PCcenter's, and ship stats, the handbook is all you need.

Hi there, apricotslice.. :)
great guide - can't wait for the indexed version.. (- how's it coming, BTW?)

..but there's still a couple of items that should be included in the Handbook, which are of particular use to the beginner..

- obviously, the default keyboard layout..(- there are several available via the forum..)

- but also, a full and comprehensive expose on the in-game monitors and cameras
- it's hard to track down info on this one - the official guide is vague on the subject,
- and as far as I can see, the forums have yet to fully address the issue.. :sceptic:

- I've been doing some forum-hunting myself, but have drawn a blank on the full thing with the F1, F2,F3,F4 keys..
- same with the first and second monitor settings.. :gruebel:

- it'd be a real scoop if this were to be completed by someone with the full lowdown on the subject(s) (- any takers..??)
- the whole universe is running in BETA mode - we're working on it.. beep..!! :D

I ahvent had time to look at the k/b thingies. They ahve to be converted to a jpg to be useful. If anyone has time to do the conversion and send me the jpg, it would help.

I have seen some isolated posts done on the monitors, but never stored them. If anyone cares to right a guide to using them, I'd be happy to include it.

Re indexing, I currently dont have someone to do it. Someone did offer, but I never got a reply for the last version. So if anyone can do this, please let me know.

i have 1.1 of this guide, and am curious to know if version 2 is worth downloading. if there are any specific sections that have significant overhauls, maybe i can just print those out, or is there enough new material (and/or has the guide been altered to address a more current version of x3) any advice would be appreciated.

There are a number of version 2 specific sections. Explanation of the PHQ and the other version 2 additions. Also a LX capping guide. About 6 pages worth I'd guess. There are 10 extra sections in it though, of which version 2 stuff is only 3.

Version 3 (which I expect to have out ofter the next patch), will also have the Bonus Pack explained and XTM.

I checked and both the webpage and the download seem to be ok. Maybe just a short term blockage to the site.

Just to be sure though, when you say "both links", which url are you on, and whats the url of the links that your clicking ? Just in case your on a site with an old link that hasnt been updated or I've missed something.

Its BIGGER !

Its BETTER !

It does have less pics in it though. :(

I had to delete a lot to keep the size down, and for some reason, they just didnt fit in so well this time.

No problems with printing it. I guess I dont trust my printer with something that big. It always manages to lose pages or get stuck in the middle with a paper jam.

I only tend to print the bits I really need.

I was surprised that anyone would print something so big.

But as I said, let me know how well it prints.

I really wish I could get it published and in the stores. That would save any need to print it.

That helps :)

Back in the days when I had my own PC store, I used to be able to write off the cost of such things. But that was a long time ago now. I'm still using the same old laser I had back then.

Yes you are right the laser printers are for such amount of work(eg 333 pages or more)

But I don't have a color laser printer and I want a colored handbook.

If it looks good on PC,why it doesn't in my hand? :D
