Recommended player sectors?
Finally gathered enough resources to claim and build a TOA, so was wondering which sector people would recommend moving HQ, weapons complex, etc. to.
I'm very friendly with Argon, Boron, and Teladi, slightly friendly with Split and Paranid, enemies with Terran, Yaki, and Pirates. Also overall good with everyone but ATF and Duke's for the corporations.
I know some of the HSPA sector locations are randomized, but if anyone had suggestions on which ones have worked for them (or at least what's ideal to look for when choosing), I'm all ears.
Also, I know the sector by Legend's Home is decent and allows you to jump right to it, but I've used it before and am looking for something different.

Re: Recommended player sectors?
Personally went with Quite Tides because there was plenty of 100+ silicon asteroids there. But there may be a better one, dunno
Re: Recommended player sectors?
I recommend Tears of Greed, theres a potential Tears of Greed beta sector behind it you can claim, the sector itself has plenty of asteroids and the Teladi are easy to keep happy.
Re: Recommended player sectors?
I went with Harmony of Perpetuity.
- It's a 450% Sun system, so it's perfect for a closed loop megaplex.
- If the HSAP is active in your game, it's an adjacent sector full of ores to feed the megaplex
- It only has one gate, so you only have to defend from one side. Easy to hold it with lasertower spam.
- It is near a Xenon sector, so they come to invade from time to time. Generally either a Q or J with escorts. But, the Argon military usually intercepts and destroys them in Elysium of Light. A couple times earlier in the game a J made it to Harmony, but I just stalled them until the Argon arrived. Now I can defend it myself though.
- The sector is large, so it takes a while to fly from the gate to the TOA.
Re: Recommended player sectors?
It's not only the HSAP sectors which are randomly chosen, but also the contents of those sectors (asteroid type, number, position and yield). Only Profit Center Alpha Beta seems to be always completely empty... they are all impractical to use without a jump beacon, can't be linked to the Hub and you don't really need those ridiculous yields thanks to station upgrades. Whichever you chose, be prepared to defend it from huge Xenon patrols (I, 2Ks, 3Qs at rank Assassin ) making a beeline for your HQ.
Which leaves the three unclaimed sectors behind either OTAS HQ, Xenon sector (near Getsu Fune) or Paranid's Unseen Domain.
All in all, I recommend Savage Spur

Re: Recommended player sectors?
Neither of these seem to be in my game, bummer :/

It has two negatives though:
- It's a 450% Sun system, so it's perfect for a closed loop megaplex.

Definitely will be checking this out since as far as the negatives are concerned:
-After seeing the Xenon flood the hub, I've stocked up on laser towers and 2 (almost) fully equipped Megalodons, so anything short of a couple I's shouldn't be an issue
-I stole the jump beacon from Atreus and can place it to avoid the travel time of flying.
Thanks for the tip!

As mentioned, trying to avoid the OTAS unclaimed sector. The other two are gonna cause their own issues as well, but Profit Center Alpha B looks pretty good to me.
Savage Spur would be an....interesting choice (in my game at least).
Re: Recommended player sectors?
Yeah, the Xenon are really only a problem earlier in the game when you can't afford lasertowers or ships to defend it. It's a great sector overall.DirkHardpec wrote: ↑Sat, 19. Jun 21, 23:49Definitely will be checking this out since as far as the negatives are concerned:

The Xenon flood the Hub if the Hub is connected to any sector within 10 jumps of a Xenon sector, because that is their invasion jump range. You can solve it by realigning the gates to other sectors.

Deadly solar activity also gives big stonks in SPP.andreihaiducul wrote: ↑Sun, 20. Jun 21, 00:02From an RP-perspective, that's a pretty bad sector due to the deadly solar activity and uninhabitable planet.
The sector description states that the solar activity can be overcome with heavy shielding, and also implies the barren planet might be colonizable.

How do you do that?DirkHardpec wrote: ↑Sat, 19. Jun 21, 23:49I stole the jump beacon from Atreus and can place it to avoid the travel time of flying.
Re: Recommended player sectors?
It was possible till it got patched once. I started already on 1.3 but read that it was possible to steal JB from Orbital Weapons Platform in Ocean of Fantasy gamma (the Atreus sector). At the time being you can steal only Single Use Jump Beacon from Terracorp HQ.Andrea92 wrote: ↑Fri, 6. Jan 23, 15:02How do you do that?DirkHardpec wrote: ↑Sat, 19.
