...all my L and M mining ship configurations are flagged invalid in the shipyard building menu. It looks like only mining turrets and on L mining and missile turrets are available to choose from.

Bug or new "feature" ? :o ?

Well vanilla in the sense that it needs to be a save that was not made while using modifications. We still need a save if we are to look into it.

..check Alligator mineral (editor will not allow anything but mining lasers) or Crane mineral (mining lasers or rocket launchers but nothing else); other ships I use (i.e. Donia or Wyvern) work.

I just claimed the Derelict Drill Vanguard in The Void. I sent it to the Equipment Dock in Black Hole Sun IV and am only given the option to fit Mining Turrets. I can add a save in a bit if needed. No time at the mo.

This save will show the issue. Send the Drill Vanguard to the Equipment Dock and you'll see.

I tried that Scoob's save and custom start. There's no difference between them, but as one can see from the custom start selections, for example Crane which mp63 mentioned has 3 turret slots which are supposed to have Standard Missile Mining, but only show Missile and Mining. Then it has 3 turret slots which are supposed to have Standard and Mining, but only have Mining.
So the standard selection of turrets is missing from all 6 of them.

These are missing the Standard M's: Chthonios and Chthonios E (Mineral) both Sentinel and Vanguard variants, Crane (Mineral) Sentinel and Vanguard
Alligator, Bolo, Drill, Manorina, Plutus

All Gas versions are ok, as are Donia, Hokkaido, Magnetar and Wyvern.

After a look through the extracted files, I noticed a new tag for the turret connections "combat". This is the new tag required for non mining/missile turrets to be mounted and should resolve the issue after they are added.
A line for the Drill reads:
<connection name="con_turret_02" tags="turret medium standard mining unhittable ">
When I believe it should read
<connection name="con_turret_02" tags="turret medium combat standard mining unhittable ">

I made a post earlier regarding the Erlking, and posted this possible answer there.

I have the same problem - fresh Split start, came to Split Warf and can confirm that Alligator(Mineral) and Wyvern (Mineral) can't use anything except Mining turrets.

Attached save and screenshots with Alligator(Mineral)/Wyvern (Mineral) and Alligator(Gas)/Wyvern (Gas) for contrast.

So with Wyvern(Mineral) it's another bug - turret compatibility should be only 'Mining' without 'Standard' if it is intended.

6.0 no longer allows weapons on ANY mining turrets

Since I installed the beta, I can no longer put any weapons besides missiles onto any mining ship turrets including S / M / L.
I've seen some people posting about individual models of ships, but in my game its all of them. This makes me sad.

Please help my Captains.

6.00 Beta 2 Bolo(Mineral) first turret still only accepts mining turret

Hello, all M miners had their turrets bugged to only accept miner turrets, not weapons ones in the initial release of the 6.0 Beta.
After the Beta 2 today, this was mostly fixed for the M miners I looked into, however one of the turrets for the mineral Terran Bolo still remains bugged.
It is possible that other types of ships still have the same bug.

I can confirm: it's specifically M1 turret of Bolo (Mineral).

Besides that obvious bug, two ships still stand out:
*Crane's 3/6 M turrets locked at being just mining turrets. I don't know whether they need to be kept as such to maintain compatibility with non-beta saves, but M turret availability in every other case is never just mining turrets (all L are mining is the only clear rule)
*Chthonios and Chthonios E having L mining turret and also 3 std/missile/mining. Every other ship which has L mining turret(s) isn't also able to have M mining turrets.
