Terraforming - Samsara (Kingdom End: Ocean of Fantasy)
so i excitedly jumped the HQ in here to "get #$% done"
but, ICE. oh my. (i have been scouring map data, but Morning star IV seems the closest source. 6 gates though?)
anyone found any sources no more than 5 gates away?
Thinking i will just pop the HQ out again to Avarice, collect 10Million ICE, and jump back.
love logistical problems, but meh.

Re: Terraforming - Samsara (Kingdom End: Ocean of Fantasy)
Rolk's Demise and Wretched Skies X are your other options. The lack of Ice was probably the biggest problem for the Provinces Adrift, so all you can do is initiating a constant stream of ice miners.
It's not that bad though, a Donia is reasonably fast and can carry 4250 ice in one go. Make it 30 of them, so each cycle you get 127k ice. 8 cycles are 1 million ice. Given how fast ice mining is, it doesn't seem like such a big deal. Use TER engines, they excel at longer distances with many jumps.

cheers for the Rolks demise tip, missed an entire branch of Boron sectors..xant wrote: ↑Sun, 16. Apr 23, 14:42Rolk's Demise and Wretched Skies X are your other options. Re: Terraforming - Samsara (Kingdom End: Ocean of Fantasy)
You could set up a remote mining station (dock + solid storage, assign miner and set a buy order for ice) and use mining ships as auto-traders to transfer the ice. It's a nice logistical solution to the problem.
Humans are deuterostomes, which means that when they develop in the womb the first opening they develop is the anus.
This means that at one point you were nothing but an asshole.
Some people never develop beyond this stage.

friendly reminder for those coming across this.
Sanctuary of Darkness should be blacklisted for L-class vessels. dumped a fleet of 50 Donia on the problem and the Rolk's Demise > Ocean of Fantasy mining route, but lost about 4 vessels due to the hazards in SoD. (confirming observations of other players so far)
swapping to M-class, so they can use the highway.

Re: Terraforming - Samsara (Kingdom End: Ocean of Fantasy)
Use the Donia to supply a mining outpost in Rolk's Demise, and set up a repeat order chain between the mining outpost and Ocean of Fantasy for a bunch of fast M miners.Tempest wrote: ↑Sun, 16. Apr 23, 16:46friendly reminder for those coming across this.

That's faster than using M miners to mine and transport, as they will spend most of their time flying around hauling ice. Which isn't very efficient.
Re: Terraforming - Samsara (Kingdom End: Ocean of Fantasy)
yeah thanks, i dropped a water refinery there. dumped about 200 M-miners on the PHQ, dont mind waiting a bit. napkin math: 200 x Manorina sentinels x 1500 ice 300,000 per haul, 10 roundtrips thereabouts for a single Water project (2,900,000 units ish)xant wrote: ↑Sun, 16. Apr 23, 17:02

Crane sentinels seems to be coping okay with Sanctuary of Darkness, even when they overshoot 500km+
i'd consider them on the right track for being SoD certified, Rorqual's are another option, possibly Magnetars.
Sanctuary of Darkness funkyness: (about 1 min in Cranes start flooding in)

...same Observation here. Anything with less than 2xL shields, better 3xL gets roasted eventually when they shortcut through the system avoiding the highway. (Crane, Pelican, Heron etc. work fine). S and M traders/miners skip the highway sometimes or overshoot around the gates or when docking at a station I built in there. Happens to the Boron too; their M fighters coming through with the L ships are fizzling left and right of the highway. The Rorqual types make it, the Sturgeons die trying AI pilots...Tempest wrote: ↑Mon, 17. Best is to avoid the sector with your own ships as much as possible and let the Borons do the work
Re: Terraforming - Samsara (Kingdom End: Ocean of Fantasy)
Yeah, plenty of Sturgeon corpses littered there..mp63 wrote: ↑Tue, 18. Apr 23, 13:56...same Observation here. as seen in the video, some Cranes actually try to follow the path (and doing a pretty decent job of it) but some Ai-captains just yeet themselves out of the gate in a seemingly random somewhat Northwestern heading and then take ages to get back on their intended flightpaths.
Anyhow, i'd imagine the devs are already on the case since it's quite easily reproduced (with a big enough sample size! of L-class ships + a move order)

Re: Terraforming - Samsara (Kingdom End: Ocean of Fantasy)
You forget the 14mill plankton you need!
I had to resort to my HQ having:
- 100 ( ) Plankton(BOR)
- 8 Water
- Solid storage for 6mill ice
- Container storage for 14mill plankton
- Liquid storage for 5mill methane
The other resources are peanuts. Well, except maybe the near-100k drone parts you need..
Fair warning though, my 3 * import water was wasted to 0, because of the event "Outer crust solidifies": the tooltip states it will activate at 1 red squares (eating up ALL your built-up humidity), but it already activated at 2 red squares.. so my tectonic scaffolding (200k+ silicon carbide, 6m+ microlattice...) only saved me from the major volcanic extinction event. Get tectonic done before you start importing water / bringing temperate down.

Re: Terraforming - Samsara (Kingdom End: Ocean of Fantasy)
actually started with tectonic scaffolding, now chaining water imports (on run #6 now)Ehli wrote: ↑Tue, 18. Apr 23, 19:54You forget the 14mill plankton you need!

- Outer Crust Solidifies
- Major Volcano Extinction
not quite sure if both events are still, on the table, so to speak, because they haven't disappeared from my list, but the tectonic activity is now X'ed out/RED/requirement not met.
- Salinity appeared on the event tab once water import finished. that triggered a single event and increased salinity by one "box". halted after 1 event.
Plankton - that's quite a bit of plankton heh, started factories with all the new Boron wares from the get-go, so should be fine.
Methane - Gas Cranes are ready to be swapped out with the Ice Cranes when water projects finish.
Trading station planted in Heretic's End (in range of my other commonwealth production sites/trading stations)

nope, mine is stuck at light-blue aswell. "Ocean water is brackish". it's not a requirement for completing the mission luckily tho.Withidread wrote: ↑Mon, 1. May 23, 17:59This is where I'm at with salinity as well, did it ever green up for you?
Not sure if this is some sort of bug, and the Salinisation is supposed to keep triggering, but then again, we have no projects to counter salinity it seems.
An Ocean can technically be "brackish", some of the bits i have read never mention "salt water" oceans i think, disclaimer: not a lore-junky by any means.

It definitely *feels* bug-ish. Or at least incomplete.Tempest wrote: ↑Mon, 1. May 23, 19:36

Not getting salinity into the green will, at minimum, bug *me*. What good is complete, total, and utter domination of galactic economics if I can't tailor entire planets to my exact specifications?
