What I don't understand is what's with these numbers after system names? First I thought they are supposed to represent how many sectors are in a system. But now they just seem simply random.

In astronomical terms, that'd be the planet. So Morning Star III would be the area around the third planet orbiting Morning Star.

Scale Plate is pirate for sure.
The other red at bottom-left might also. The two red in the northr are Xenon for sure.

Nope, Scale Plate Green is a Xenon Sector, with lot's of ships waiting at the gate and even a Shipyard.

Ok, I though it might be a Pirate because there are Scale Plate pirate faction.
Maybe the grey systems are Pirate?

The grey systems are "unclaimed" I think but while they have say, space fuel factories in them, there are no pirate bases that I have found.

This map feels rather small, only took me a hour or two or exploring to open up 90% of it.. :(

It might have to do with the presentation of the map. It does feel smaller than say XR. If I'm flying around these maps they feel plenty big. It's likely due to longer travel times though. I want to add that the factions dispersed on the map seem haphazard. XR it was more delineated on who owned what sectors and areas of the game.

Compared to X3 with it's 100-ish sectors this map is small.

The overall area for the universe map has more than enough space for 100+ more sectors, this is just them getting started I am sure. Have seen plenty of references to sectors not currently in the game.

Has anyone compiled or is creating a list of all jump gates yet? That would be very handy for course plotting and planning.

Just to put some numbers

X3 Reunion sectors were around ~160 at launch

X3 Albion Prelude had ~ 232 sectors in it

Well, for me the lack of Jump Drive does make this map feel big enough, like if I found an Osprey in Company Regard and want to move it to Antigone Memorial because I have the highest relations with their faction, it did took a while.


on a side note is there any list of where the Shipyards, Wharfs and Equipment Docks are? Even if your ships remove all of the fog of war in a sector they still seem to miss some things.

Remember each sector is huge by comparison to X3

I imagine in time we'll have more sectors, plus I'm sure modders will happily be adding more as well
