I noticed while placing one of these that there are connection points inside of its geometry. The highlighted module in these screenshots is one I was actively placing, it's shown snapped to parts of the module that, if built, would put it inside those struts on the module, and do not visibly correspond to any of the normal tic-tac shaped connection points. These are apparently functional, although I'm not sure why they would be. The game will even let me connect things there if module overlap is turned off in the planner.
This is totally vanilla so you should be able to see it in the station designer (I checked).

Confirmed and fixed.
These connections will visually disappear in the upcoming beta, but buildplans using them will not break, you just wont be able to connect them there again.
