Resource mission bug

Post by Zamiex » Wed, 21. Apr 21, 22:03

While doing a mission for antigone to find 3.88m3 ice, i find 3.9 but still says too few resources detected...

Been all over the sector but cant find any area better than this....

See screens for details;

Resource missions can randomly be quite difficult ive found and usually skip them due to randomness but rewards i want makes me waste hours flying around a sector trying to find a good spot...

Even better sometimes even when surrouded by ice probe says theres nothing there.....

Nope no ice here, just your imagination....

Probably this issue.

thanks, that explains it...

So likely what I'm actually finding there is 3.85 to 3.87....sigh ok.

would it be so hard to add a single decimal to resource probe output :gruebel:

the other later screens are a bit weirder though, ice all around yet probe shows 0.
Doesent seem to be a range thing since in one of my examples an asteroid with clear ice in it has a probe almost kissing it...

That does not explain below issue:

I can confirm above ... plus an other case when there was nothing around according to a short range scanner (empty asteroids) however probe detected a good spot (?). I do not have a save for that but I think it is a common thing probes shows resources differently than the scanner. Looks like there is some discrepancy between probes and what short scanner shows.

Not only a discrepancy, its complettly independant. Forget trying to find a good spot in vanillar other than trial and error. While theoretically you could at least find spots with ressources in long range mode that doesnt give you a lot of info how much is there. Your best bet would be to just look on the map and queue a ton of drop orders on a fast ship in the colored spots.
Or you could play modded and use something like sector satelites to find the best spot for each ressource in a sector.
