[CLOSED][3.10] Trader for builder hardly doing anything

Hi, since 3.0 I started using the option of assigning my trader ships to the builder. However, they hardly every do anything. They mainly just stay where there are with the command "searching for trades".

I doubt its because they cannot find any building wares needed with in a 5 gate range because there are NPC traders that come and trade with the building storage.

Out of 10 assigned ships, maybe one will do something after a few minutes then also goes into a looking for trades state.

So far, I usually unassign them after 30 min to better use them elsewhere.

Is there something scheduled from Egosoft to address this?

Can you provide a savegame? Without that it's very hard to tell whether what you are seeing is normal, and if not why not.

In the mean time, if anyone else has this same issue, I would like to hear because that would prove it is not isolated to me.

Thread and links say what to gather as information/files but does not say where we send them.

Well.... it does actually.

If you are supplying information ... you can upload the data to a reputable public fileshare site (a few examples are Google Drive, DropBox or PasteBin, etc) but please don't use sites that spam advertising or require registration for downloads.

In other words don't send them; just upload them somewhere and provide a link.

Hi I created a savegame for testing this without anything else in it.

Created a station build request in Argon Prime but with $0 credits for the ressources. I did not want it to start right away until I was ready everywhere.

Assigned an NPC builder to it and he is right next to the building storage, no other commands other then deploying station.

Have 2 sets of trading ships:
1) low level pilog skills that have been bought from an Argon Wharf
---- 1 small trade ship
---- 1 medium trade ship
---- 1 large trade ship

2) high level pilot skills that I hacked in this savegame file
---- 1 small trade ship
---- 1 medium trade ship
---- 1 large trade ship

Once everything was ready I saved the game, closed X4, restarted it and loaded up that file.

From there I accepted the building cost estimates.

Couldn't assign my ships until the first dock was built (weren't we able to assign them right from the start?)

Upon assigning them, I checked their behavior for their max range of trading:
- low skill skips had max distance=1
- high skill ships had max distance=5

Within 30 seconds of being assigned all 6 ships started fetching the wares. So right from the start, there is no issue for building storage assigned traders.

I am thinking now that maybe there were idleing when I first reported this because even with their maximum range distance, they could not reach any decent selling trades?

It would help if a ship had a command that it could not execute for more then 10-15 min and notify the player....

Hi.

Took a quick look at your saves.

With your "In current game session" save, trade ships working for build storage of "My Warehouse" GZJ-413 found turret components and went to go get them from the Argon Trading Station in Black Hole Sun V shortly after loading the save.
Your "In a brand new game" save has one player-owned station whose build storage currently doesn't want anything which is why the traders working for it aren't trading anything. Not sure if there was something else there that you wanted looked at?

Well since I was able to have it work in a brand new game vs having an issue (I think) in an already going game session, I will say this was an isolated case.

Will need to keep an eye on other game sessions in case it happens again and keep your findings in mind.
