Steam cloud saves dont show up on my linux laptop - Explained.

Post by daifuco » Sat, 1. Aug 20, 10:12

Hello. I normally play on my Windows PC. But I would love to play sometimes on my linux laptop.
But my windows saves dont show up on the laptop. Steam cloud is enabled on both machines.
The steam cloud folder shows a 214 MB, which roughly matches the windows Documents/Egosoft folder.

Is this normal? Are the saves not compatible.
I am pretty sure they are just xml data so not platform specific.
Im not sure if it is a steam cloud problem or there is just some incompatibility.

Generic information:

Cloud-sync between Windows and Linux is not supported.
Savegames are by default stored in a hidden folder ".config/EgoSoft/X4/<number>/save/" in your home directory, where <number> is your steam user id, the files are save_001.xml.gz, save_002.xml.gz etc.
Windows savegames should be two-way compatible however you'll need to copy them manually, if there are any issues please report a bug.

Thanks and sorry, I did a search before asking but it was not very effective obviously.
