Regular vs terran ship maintenance bay

If i build terran ship maintenance bay, i assume by default it will ask for terran construction materials? Can other faction ships be repaired with terran materials? If it is compatible with other factions, maybe it is better to go other way around and build regular maintenance bay, because regular construction material are more widely available?

All it affects is what construction materials are used to construct the maintenance bay. After it is built, it is functionally equivalent to the regular maintenance bay from the other factions. The same is true for the Terran wharf, L shipyard, and XL shipyard.
