Once you are close to a station to receive the trade offers, a satellite placed there will prevent the trade offer information to expire. It also serves as a radar with ranges between 50 and 75Km (depends on the type of satellite).

I hijack a bit the post but since few weeks wonder 2 things about satellite:
- Is the satellite range is considered IS-high attention or OOS-low attention ?
- Is the shape of the satellite area is a sphere or a cylinder ? It seems it's the latest so Z axis for deployment is irrelevant. Bonus: Is it the same as in the previous X iteration, I really can't remember.

Thanks :)

- It's the same in both cases.
- It's a sphere. It's also been a sphere in previous games.

The simple answer is that objects that are in satellite range, but nowhere near you, are in low attention. There is slightly more to it than that, but I'll assume that you don't need a more complicated answer unless you tell me otherwise. :)

Hum, I should have trusted my very first memories but some new placed satellites started to distrust them , at least I placed my satellites according to spherical area.
Thanks
