Playership turret question.
Ok, so I've got a Nemesis as my playership with an Ion blaster and 4x Bolt repeaters as the main armarment. I mainly go up against Ps, Ms and Ns.
What do you reckon for the turrets? Bolts, flak, pulse? What?
Cheers.

Re: Playership turret question.
Argon flak is your best M turret for general anti-fighter melee damage. For anti-missile I prefer a mix of flak and pulse (but the Nemesis only has 2 turrets). Bolt is good for consistent damage to larger/slower targets. Some like beam for knocking and keeping fast/agile (think Xenon T) targets out of travel drive so that you can destroy them with front guns. Take your pick according to playstyle and what you want to do (and how important collateral damage/rep loss might be to you in some situations such as close to friendly stations and ships).
A dog has a master; a cat has domestic staff.

Re: Playership turret question.
Would strongly recommend taking the time to try out all the options personally, rather than just following any advice you might get here without any personal experimentation.
As for my own preferences, I usually fit Shard turrets on M ships I'll be flying personally. Range is a bit lower than some of the other options, but damage is reasonably good & they're fairly accurate. Don't like Flak myself - too bloody noisy for my poor old ears, though it can be quite effective.

Beams because they never miss.
With other options things become messy because despite to higher dps the problem of delivering the dps is higher the higher the dps.

X4 is not a destination. It's a journey. Unfortunately in a wrong direction.

Re: Playership turret question.
Beam turrets deal so little damage practically any other turret is better. Sure M Flak might miss most of its shot but each shot that lands is worth a good part of a minute of firing a beam turret at the target. It will not miss that much when used by a personal M ship.
Re: Playership turret question.
Turrets are nearly useless in the Nemesis, because of agressive maneuvers they will not shoot a lot or deal damage.-Turrets make nearly no dmg compared to the Mk2 Main Guns
I would recommend to try it yourself.
Beams and Argon FLAK are very effective but very noisy
If you want to kill K's take FLAK, if S/M take Beams.
A good alternative is Plasma and Bolts.-because see my mention above.

Re: Playership turret question.
Beam or Flak.
Re: Playership turret question.
...don't know why so many raves about the flak turrets - inluding the Arg one.
They hit nothing smaller than Ps
For turrets, use Arg beam or pulse for large, Arg pulse for medium.

Re: Playership turret question.
Yes i agree, same with pulse.
But, because Argon FLAKS make area damage they compensate the lack of projectile speed. Not so the Split ones they do more damage per time, but do not have area damage (or not so much).
I observed that some enemys turn around and fly away when they get hit. With FLAK they have lesser chance to survive this.
So the best anti fighter turret is Argon Flak, followed by the turrets with the fastest projectile speed.
Some L turrets also do a good job vs S,M but then are useless against L, XL
Re: Playership turret question.
Best m class turret are astrid gold beams whith basic modifications range is crazy for m and damage is ok
Re: Playership turret question.
I just know my ships became much more efficient at killing fighters when I replaced all ARG flaks with ARK pulses- trick is to stop the ship, THEN they start hitting.EGO_Aut wrote: ↑Sat, 19. Nov 22, 12:48Yes i agree, same with pulse.
