Habitats only affect the types of npcs that will populate the station it doesn't matter what one you use as far as the production bonus.
The modules you use also don't need to be all the same faction.
The only exception is terran as they have a different tech base. You can still have them on the same station but their production lines won't mesh.

Different populations consume different food, but their output "manpower" is the same.

Several people have mentioned a raw material storage unit. Where would I got blue prints for something like that m

They're probably meaning the raw scrap, pertaining to the salvage and recycle modules used primarily by the Riptide Rakers in the TOA DLC. Raw Scrap is a solid, so it uses a solid storage unit. AFAIK, there's no specific "raw material storage". Everything is either container, liquid or solid (there's also 'condensate', but that's just for Protectyon).

So using miners i would need a container and a gas storage unit to keep and sell ?
