2.50 beta 1!

Just saw a 138 MB patch download a few minutes ago. Loading up the game, the version said 2.50 beta!

I spy with my little eye some new features I want to try...
Humans are deuterostomes, which means that when they develop in the womb the first opening they develop is the anus.
This means that at one point you were nothing but an asshole.

Some people never develop beyond this stage.

Hope they nail the extensive def platform building this time, would be nice to go on with my game.

How are supply ships? Does that add much to the gameplay?

Is station turret attack/defend setting included?

If it isn't mentioned in the changelog linked then it won't be changed in this beta. Where change is mentioned, it is now up to the public beta testers to try things out in vanilla gameplay, confirm it works and maybe say where it doesn't and in what way along with repro steps and info for the devs - but all that goes in the Public Beta forum; things could change again before 2.50 release.

New Feature: Resupply ships are now available and carriers can also resupply their fighters.
Now Carriers make realistic sense... A good start.

Having just bought VR I am now wishing for VR implementation.... Don`t worry, Devs, I know it`s likely not to be in.

Anything else interesting besides resupply ships and carriers?

Added categories to object list and property owned in the map.

Besides that, my personal favourite points are:
- Partial encyclopedia entries (/lore) for Systems.
- NPC inventory, being able to autocollect and trade items with NPCs. As well as a safe stash on stations for illegal wares.
- And being able to blacklist clusters for AI controlled ships is also neat.
- And of course all the fixes and improvements is a big one for me.

Yup, this plus the new filtering options. The fleet tab is welcome. If only fleets where acting as such, though... Could you pretty please make it so that an order given to a fleet makes all subordinates follow that command NO MATTER WHAT!

A next step for the encyclopedia would be to add faction information/lore.

Fixed ships attacking targets outside their engagement area when on their way to their engagement area.
Fixed squadron subordinates getting distracted by hostile targets encountered while on their way to join their commander.
So with this 2 fixes, I see xenon flying all over nobody is bothering them on the way, highway is full :lol:

They seem to exchange ships since xenon are 1 faction with 4 wharfs and 4 shipyards
Now they actually get to there sector

I hope they could check out the music. I'm still getting way to often that the game cuts off "old"-music tracks and plays the ambient. It is better than before, but it could still be improved. Oh and the volym on these tracks :(

A neat surprise, albeit not in the beta for Linux yet, is Tobii support.

Probably the first Linux game that will support this new kind of device.

It seems the do not, Im seeing Ps going to matrix#451 from somewhere else
OOS its not that hard to go past defenses

I've heard from other players that it is both resupply and repair. I haven't tried carrier stuff with it yet, I just started a new vanilla game with 2.5, so have not gotten that far yet!

I just started game again after almost 4 months and I got bored after 30 minutes.... Those features are pretty useful but it is still plain boring universe :( I think they should start improving quality of life features like easy access to missions or easy crew transfer (controlling turrets when piloting is right step ).
Anyway as soon as I noticed that we still need to fly from station to station to get missions I turned game off... I still don't know why would anyone think this is good idea :headbang: I thought they would lean from XR by now :roll: Anyway is there mod or something to change this because obviously devs are neglecting game in this department :evil:

The abandoned ships are gone, its safe to join guilds again. These new aux ships open up some new combat potential. Two aux cruisers with tracking turrets, filled with wares to make missiles/drones, docked transporters filled with the same, then load them with a ton of defense drones. They can spam missiles and drones for days and just rearm/resupply off each other.
