Unknown Station Dock bug BEFORE scientist rescued

I'm being told to dock at the Unknown Station before attempting to rescue the scientist but the mission won't progress when I do. There's no research lab for me to go to in order to fix this as suggested in previous posts.

I had to sell the ship I initiated the mission in (due to another bug where I fired the pilot but they weren't being shown having left, so I couldn't either fire or replace them) so I wonder if that caused it?

Ok fixed it. For future reference, I got into the same ship type as before and that seemed to work. Not sure if this was what actually fixed it, or whether several reloads did the trick.
