how to get paint mods

i've been playing this game for months and i've read that you can get paint mods, i've seen them on npcs and i've read that you can get the for registering your account here with steam but even after doing that i still don't have any paint mods. can someone help!

Hi! The paint mods (if you don't modify your game) are mostly rewards for sending your ships on Ventures using the new semi-kindof-multiplayer feature in 1.50.

You can get them from the ship you capture through a "glitch" in the shipyard/wharf's UI. (I place quotes around glitch because I can't say if it's actually a glitch or just a very buggy feature)

But yeah. Most of them you get through venture so far.
If you don't want to use that feature, modding will be your best option.
