Visual damage modelling? Is it possible? That mesh effect.

Looking at how ships are built slowly up from nothing is pretty cool. On two 3rds nearly made they look like a very damaged ship.

It occurred to me that this could be used to represent current actual `visual damage on ships. Just have some of that `mesh`effect on certain parts of a ship to represent how damaged it is. Clearly you wouldn`t have it look like almost nothing on 90% damage. The effect could be stopped at around 70% to prevent the ship looking like it couldn`t possibly fly. Or maybe it could be based on a patchwork effect so the `mesh`effect appears increasingly spread about the ship the more its damaged but not open any great gaps.

Would be neat to land on a dock after a hard battle and jump out to observe how much surface damage or holes its taken.

Just a couple of thoughts...
"If you`re looking for that one person who can change your life, take a look in the mirror."
"No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking."
"Don`t raise your voice. improve your argument."
"Some men are morally opposed to violence. They are protected by men who are not."
