My job means that I rarely get the chance to run the game in anything other than a slow development build that allows me to do lots of debugging.

Again, though, there is so much variation, both in hardware performance under different circumstances and in how the game will behave in different locations and with different activities going on around the player, that there is no such thing as a hardware specification that will get "good frame rates" (and even that term means different things to different people) under all circumstances.

When the time comes we'll put some more definite minimum and recommended specifications up on the Steam page, but as previously mentioned, these will not guarantee a minimum framerate in any given situation.

Edit: Missed end of sentence.

 The preorder requires a DVD player - who has a DVD player these days?
Where does it say that?
Guess he is refering to the amazon pre-order. On Amazon its saying "DVD"
That's right, mostly joking though. :D
But then
"Dieser Artikel kann nicht nach Norwegen geliefert werden."

Bit off, steam recommendet system means ~60 FPS 1080p?
If you've played any of our games in the past then you will know that we can never guarantee a particular framerate at a particular resolution. Apart from anything else, the very nature of the game means that we can never be sure just how much will be on-screen and in the local area at any one time. Throw enough at it and it will slow down; that's how computers work!
So when you're testing your newest builds (if that's in your job description? :P ) what hardware do you run it on, and what resolution are you running it on to get good frame rates?
I believe DocAce said on Discord he uses a GTX 970. I don't remember the CPU, though.

Thanks. Interesting to know.

And no, I'm not reading anything into that in terms of the required system specs.

Congratz egosoft. I said plenty of bad words here about X-rebirth (and i was right) but you did what you should. You took criticism to hearth and listened to your own fans.

When pre-order will be active i will buy it and will not complain after release regardless of how many bugs it will have.
I'd take half finished promising foundation than nice looking rebirth that pales in comparison to X3 design.

Bravo ego !
