Question about selling carriers to another faction

Just curious, if I sold a carrier to a faction will the AI assign fighters to it or will it just end up using it like a destroyer? I guess another question would be, do factions actually use ships you sell them? I see them change hands and fly off but never bothered to follow them long enough to see if they get any actual use.

I'm pretty sure they scrap them for resources, not use them.

Well that sucks. Was thinking it'd be funny to sell the Yaki some Raptors and a two dozen destroyers Oh well.

If you build them ships as part of a war mission, like assemble a fleet, they use them.

If you just build ships yourself and sell them, they just get scrapped or fly off to parts unknown, never to be seen again.

You can't actually do that since they only have a Wharf, not a Shipyard. So you can only sell S/M ships to them anyway
