[4.21] - ISSUE - Oculus 1.19.0.455175 - VR freezes

Today there was a small update to the oculus App, Version is now

1.19.0.455175 (1.19.0.455376)

After that i recognized several freezes of the VR part of the game. The Picture just freezes and theres no movement recogition any more. After putting down the headset the game switches to 2D and is still running. Switching to oculus home on the desktop seems as if no game is running on oculus any more.

I can save and end the 2D Version of the game and start it again in VR via oculus home. Runs for a few minutes and then freezes again. Happened on a Station and in flight without an open menu.

Playing a modded game, started a new one (with other mods), same issue. Maybe i will try tomorrow with an unmodded game, but seems to me like a VR (oculus) related issue, not a mod related.

Was this update by any chance a beta update? If so, have you tried changing to the 'normal' release branch, already?

I get the same behavior some times since release without beta branch. The image in the rift freezes and the game switches to 2d. I can still open and close the oculus menu. For me it seems to help if I start the game in 2d and put on the rift after loading the savegame. Oculus Rift, amd Fury X with driver 17.9.3.

Edit: It also most of the time happens when making a menu selection or while landed for me.

I wasn't aware that the 1.18 version of oculus left beta status and is now the life version, so i never turned off the Public test channel. 1.19 is beta as it seems. Thanks for the hint. Would be great to get informed by oculus which version is what and that they changed status of a given version from beta to live ...

anyway, unsubscribed the public test channel and gone back to 1.18. Let's see if it works :)

@Boeng01 Can you please keep us updated if downgrading to 1.18 ( i.e. leaving the 'public test channel' helped? ).

@Mavo pi: What exactly do you mean with "make a menu selection"? Selecting something in the menu or opening/closing a menu? I assume you are running the latest XR-VR revision (displayed when starting the game) ?

Sorry for the late update.

Downgraded to 1.18 fixed it, at least i played a few hours last night without a freeze, even with the modded save.

Yes it is the latest version and happens less often than with older versions of the game. With menu selection I meant opening a new submenu (mostly switching between zone/sector/system map). Though it could also be just a coincidence because it also happened in normal flight today. It looks like the game sometimes loses connection to the oculus service.

Small update from me. Today I could not bring the game to run at all for longer than 2 or 3 minutes. Also this time the freezes were different than the ones I am used to. The screen turned black and I got a headset disconnection warning in oculus home. Sounds exactly like the issue boeng described. Now the strange thing is I already was on Oculus 1.18. After two hours of troubleshooting I opted into the Oculus 1.19 beta and the issue is fixed for me. My guess is something in windows got updated (some driver or whatever) and caused issues with the oculus runtime. Now opting in or out of the beta branch seemed to force a reinstall of the responsible component :?
